Job description:
Medical journalism is the dissemination of health and medical stories and health related topics in mass media. by delivering health related information via well-known media outlets. She must Develop and write materials for press releases, media alerts, external magazine and other materials as needed. Serve as the primary point of contact for local media outlets; respond to reactive media calls and initiative proactive media calls when appropriate. Maintain & update media contact list; distribute public relations materials regarding hospital news and events as necessary. Prepare talking points and prep materials for executives in advance of interviews; staff interviews as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifying and generating new business/clients .
- Utilize networking abilities within the medical field and local community
- Creatively prospect for new business
- Respond to and initiate telephone contact with potential clients
- To complete all other tasks assigned
- Attend field health coordination meetings as well as other coordination meetings which are relevant to health department programs and communicate relevant information to the Director of magazine and other health staff
