The Senior Accountant will have 2 main functions in their role: 1. Provide general accounting support 2. Provide project accounting support

Job Responsibilities

  • 1. General Accounting
  • Record accounting entries and complete intercompany reconciliations
  • Manage and update accounting schedules for various accounts
  • Prepare and arrange payroll, payments, employee expenses, and petty cash
  • Prepare the balance sheet, profit, and loss statements, capital accounts, and other reports by compiling, analyzing and consolidating information for several companies
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Maintain and analyze budgets, preparing reports to compare budget vs. actual costs
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures for all companies
  • Calculate, summarize and submit tax returns for all companies
  • Assist in the year-end external audit process and regular internal audits, including presenting audit evidence and responding to audit queries
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as directed by the Jordan Finance Manager
  • 2. Project Accounting
  • Assure that Value of Work Done (VOWD) is accurately captured in the financial system and correct accruals are posted as part of the month-end process; challenge inputs from the project team; ensure adequate back-up documentation on accruals is in place
  • Ensure commitments are accurately reported, and proper records are maintained
  • Report regularly on the status of purchase order process adherence by the project team
  • Ensure manual of authorities is complied with and accurately reflects requirements
  • Perform material reconciliation in close cooperation with project managers and/or project controllers, contract holders in an agreed upfront, timely and auditable manner
  • These responsibilities are subject to change depending on the needs 

 

Requirements 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in an accounting role 
  • Experience in logistics or construction materials sectors is preferred.
  • High level of self-awareness, open to feedback and dedicated to continuous improvement • An open and transparent communication and work style
  • Business intimacy and a partner to the leadership team
  • Ability to influence and work through others without direct reporting lines of authority
  • Self-starter with a critical mindset, able to constructively challenge assumptions and ways of working
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating and knows when to ask for help
  • Expert understanding of IFRS, accounting principles, financial reporting and analysis
  • Expert knowledge of Jordanian tax rules and regulations
  • Good experience in the use of ERP systems
  • Clear and articulate communication skills, with fluency in English
  • Excellent IT skills, especially in MS Excel
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong analytical and interpretative skills
  • University degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Qualified accountant (CPA, CA or equivalent) is mandatory
