Job Title: Project Coordinator

 The purpose of this position is to play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the implementation of Enhanced mental, psychosocial, and physical wellness of children (0-5) and their caregivers in the host community, with a focus on enhancing the mental, psychosocial, and physical wellness of children (0-5) and their caregivers in the host community. The Project Coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders, including PSS facilitators, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the Ministry of Health, to ensure the successful execution of activities in the urban areas in Amman and Al-Zarqa .

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed work plans to Train PSS facilitators on the PSS manuals and sessions and Providing  caregivers of children aged 0 - 5 with structured PSS sessions.
  • Collaborate with PSS facilitators, healthcare professionals, and community health workers to ensure smooth execution of training programs, rehabilitation activities, and awareness campaigns.
  • Oversee the provision of structured PSS sessions to 720 caregivers across 4 cycles per health facility.
  • Ensure the sessions focus on promoting emotional resilience, stress management, self-awareness, and healthy coping mechanisms
  • Coordinate with the Ministry of Health for staff recruitment and training, ensuring alignment with national guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with PSS facilitators, healthcare professionals, community health workers, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regular meetings to update stakeholders on project progress and address any issues or concerns
  • Coordinate the training of PSS facilitators, nutritionists, nutrition nurses, and community health workers in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
  • Provide on-the-job training to project staff to ensure adherence to guidelines and project objectives
  • Conduct CSG and CF assessments of physical clinics to ensure they meet community expectations.
  • Supervise the rehabilitation of four primary healthcare centers, making them child-friendly, and establishing mother-baby corners.
  • Recruit and coordinate training for specialized nutritionists, nutrition nurses, and community health workers (CHWs) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
  • Oversee the provision of IYCF counseling to caregivers of children under 2 years, emphasizing optimal nutrition and breastfeeding practices.
  • Facilitate collaboration between health staff to enhance referrals to IYCF counseling services.
  • Plan and organize monthly IYCF group sessions led by nutritionists and facilitated by nutrition nurses.
  • Coordinate the delivery of health and hygiene messaging to caregivers of children (0-5) through hired community health workers.
  • Manage the distribution of 700 newborn kits to pregnant women attending IYCF one-to-one or group sessions
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    Monitor the training program for 4 PSS facilitators, ensuring adherence to the curriculum and competency development.Collect feedback from participants during and after the training to assess its effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular monitoring of structured PSS sessions provided to 720 caregivers.
  • Assess the implementation of therapeutic techniques, group discussions, and practical exercises.
  • Capture insights into emotional resilience, stress management, and overall well-being of caregivers.
  • Collaborate with the MEAL team to conduct regular monitoring of PSS sessions.
  • Capture and analyze behavioral change aspects resulting from PSS sessions.
  • Prepare reports on the impact of psychosocial support interventions on caregivers.
  • Oversee the Caregiver Support Group (CSG) and Community Feedback (CF) assessments of physical clinics.
  • Monitor the rehabilitation of primary healthcare centers to ensure child-friendliness.
  • Assess the establishment of mother-baby corners for privacy and additional care.
  • Capacity building and training:
  • Identification of capacity needs of the facilitators and develop training materials and documentation required to deliver program goals.
  • Incorporate foundational principles of emotional well-being, empathy, stress management, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Organize practical sessions and real-life scenarios to prepare facilitators for their role.
  • Provide ongoing support and certification upon completion.
  • Work closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH) for alignment with national guidelines to provide a training on health and hygiene messaging to enhance community awareness.
  • Facilitate training for community health workers (CHWs) on health and hygiene messaging to pregnant and lactating women.
  • Ensure that training materials are adapted to the project's objectives and target groups.
  • Monitor the recruitment process for specialized nutritionists, nutrition nurses, and community health workers (CHWs).
  • Ensure the alignment of training programs with national guidelines and the project's objectives.
  • Track on-the-job training provided by the project officer to enhance staff motivation.
  • Oversee the activities of community health workers delivering health and hygiene-related messaging.
  • Assess the coverage and effectiveness of messages related to maternity health, child health, and hygiene promotion.

Partnership and coordination:

  • Coordinate with relevant partners for the Caregiver Support Group (CSG) and Community Feedback (CF) assessments of physical clinics.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with health partners for the rehabilitation of primary healthcare centers.
  • Facilitate the recruitment process for specialized nutritionists, nutrition nurses, and community health workers (CHWs).
  • Work closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to align training curricula with national guidelines.
  • Coordinate the implementation of training programs for project staff, including on-the-job training.
  • Facilitate the engagement of certified trainers provided by MoH.
  • Collaborate with the nutritionist and nutrition nurse for the effective delivery of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling.
  • Facilitate the coordination of IYCF group sessions for caregivers of children under 2 years.
  • Enhance referrals from health staff to IYCF counseling services.

Child and Adult Safeguarding

  • Ensuring that all WVSR employees and new hired health team and PSS facilitators  know their responsibilities in promoting the safety and well-being of all children, adults, clients, and beneficiaries in WVSRs operational area in the urban areas.  
  • Supporting to create a conducive environment for reporting of safeguarding incidents by staff, volunteers, partners, other affiliates, and members of project communities.  
  • Work with the Protection Technical Adviser and the CPHA Specialist to ensure the Annual Safeguarding report submission and timely action planning

Required Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, International Development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project coordination and management, preferably in health and psychosocial support programs.

Required Education,training, license,registration, and certification

  • Familiarity with child health, nutrition, and psychosocial support interventions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.     
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members and government officials.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

Experience in Community Centre implementation is an added advantage.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:

Daily travel to the project’s location Amman and Al-Azraq
