Location: Amman, Roving

Job Summary

As an MHPSS Officer, the role encompasses the overall implementation and supervision of mental health and psychosocial support programs. This includes developing, organizing, and implementing staff training opportunities, adhering to IMC's Mental Health Protocol, and ensuring compliance with international guidelines and best practices. The MHPSS Officer oversees care plan development, supports the team in biopsychosocial care planning, and monitors documentation and technical compliance. They represent IMC at stakeholder meetings, provide technical advice, and assist with staff recruitment. This role contributes to the implementation of psychosocial support activities and promotes collaboration between MHPSS, health, and protection actors. Furthermore, they work with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to program development and monitoring, and provide on-the-job supervision and training. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees overall implementation, technical, operational and otherwise
  • Supports in the development, organizing and implementation of training opportunities for staff
  • Supports the roll-out of staff supervision and professional development opportunities
  • Provides education on, and supports the roll-out and adherence to the IMC Mental Health Protocol
  • Demonstrate and follow the IASC Guidelines for MHPSS and adheres to international guidelines and best practices in MHPSS program development and implementation
  • Conducts regular reviews documentation to ensure technical compliance and adherence to the Mental Health Protocol
  • Supports and guides staff in the development of biopsychosocial care plans with focus on any immediate safety concerns
  • Represents IMC at key stakeholder meetings
  • Provides technical advice and support to staff upon as requested
  • Supports in the recruitment of key MHPSs staff upon as requested
  • Conducts key administrative tasks, to support in project implementation
  • Provides advice and supervision on key implementation strategies for MHPSS
  • Support and oversees psychosocial support activities implementation like Youth Empowerment Program and Caregiver skills training, and others
  • Monitors the on-going care plan development of teams with special attention to safety issues
  • Supports collaboration and coordination between MHPSS and health and protection actors
  • Support teams to establish short-term goals and include steps to address safety and immediate family stability
  • Ensure that all care plan activities have time lines and support services.
  • Conduct review for appropriate utilization of services from admission through discharge/termination.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team, and support the development of regular case conferencing in various sites.
  • Provide input into MHPSS program development, M&E systems, evaluation mechanisms and documentation
  • Contribute to the case management file, including assessments, treatment plan and client functioning scale.
  • Provides on-job supervision and capacity building training on topic relevant to MHPSS
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by Supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical field (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy) or Social Science (Psychology, Psychological counselling)
  • 3 years’ experience in MHPSS related field.
  • One year’s experience in a similar role will be given priority.
  • Research experience will be given priority.
  • Extensive knowledge in Pharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches
  • Intermediate to Excellent English language level
