MHPSS and Case Management Specialist

ROLE PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Protection Projects Manager, The Child Protection Specialist is tasked with leading the coordination of the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) component of the projects, providing technical support to Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), contributing to child protection thematic strategies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and interventions for Save the Children Jorda and its partners. This includes building the capacities of SCJ staff and developing material to enhance child protection efforts..

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

 

Reports to: Protection Projects Manager

Close Coordination: Project Managers, Education Specialist. MEAL department.

 

  • KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

 

  • Coordinate the project's MoSD component, ensuring alignment with national child protection frameworks.

 

  • Structure case management protocols for children engaged at worst forms of child labour
  • Provide technical support to MoSD, CBOs, enhancing their capacity to implement effective child protection interventions.
  • Contribute to the development of child protection thematic strategies, SOPs, and interventions, aligning with SCJ's goals and standards.
  • Lead capacity-building initiatives for SCJ staff, partners, and stakeholders in child protection methodologies and best practices.
  • Develop training materials, guidelines, and tools to support child protection efforts across SCJ and partner organizations.
  • Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing among child protection actors to promote best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of child protection interventions, providing recommendations for improvement and adaptation.
  • Ensure appropriate coordination with Program Development and Quality/MEAL teams for
  • Timely data collection for the purposes of MEAL and reporting. 
  • Training of Field staff on relevant technical approaches used in the project.
  •  Lead and coordinate research studies to assess the effectiveness of child protection interventions, identify gaps, and suggest evidence-based improvements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, studies, and best practices in child protection, sharing findings with the team and integrating new insights into project strategies.
  • Develop case studies and success stories to document and share the project's impact and lessons learned with a broader audience, including donors, partners, and the child protection community.
  • Contbuite to regular reports to donors and internal stakeholders, detailing project progress, challenges, and impact. Ensure these reports are accurate, timely, and align with donor requirements and organizational standards.
  • Feedback on TA/MEAL visit reports. 
  • Ensure tracking of set indicators throughout the implementation cycle and regular reporting on impact, and in coordination with the MEAL manager, assist partners in developing appropriate strategies for monitoring and evaluating implemented activities.
  • Lead on technical assessments in coordination with other thematic areas and/or other external sector agencies, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific analysis of children’s needs.

  • Ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter, the Red Cross Code of Conduct
  • Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of crisis or emergency.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Competencies QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree in Social Work, Psychology, International Development, or a related field, with a specialization in child protection.
  • At least 5 years of experience in child protection, with demonstrated expertise in technical support, capacity building, and strategic intervention development.
  • Strong knowledge of the child protection sector in Jordan, including legal frameworks, national policies, and operational mechanisms.
  • Experience in developing and implementing training programs and materials for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in both English and Arabic.
  • Computer literate (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer)
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • Patient, adaptable, able to improvise, and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
