Gender and Equality Specialist

The GIZ Jordan "TVET & Edcuation Cluster" is looking for a Gender & Equality Specialist” for full-time base employment. 

 

Qualifications and specialist knowledge

  • BA (bachelor’s degree) in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, or related fields 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a comparable position.      
  • Profound experience in gender mainstreaming and transformation as well as relevant Jordanian gender policies and regulations      
  • Experience in international development organizations, experience working in diverse cultural environments.      
  • Excellent communication and cooperation skills       
  • Very good knowledge of the Jordanian gender landscape including relevant stakeholders and institutions.
  • Language skills: Arabic native speaker, fluent spoken and written English skills, German language is an asset.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Support comprehensive gender assessments to identify gender disparities, needs, and opportunities within the GIZ gender working group and the project.
  • Support the implementation of the GIZ gender strategy and mainstream gender considerations into all policies, activities, ensuring that gender perspectives are integrated at all levels of the MOVEHET II project.
  • Provide training and awareness raising to project staff, stakeholders, on gender-related issues, promoting an inclusive and equitable work environment.
  • Collaborate with relevant components and project partners to develop and revise gender-sensitive policies and guidelines to support gender equality.
  • Collect and analyze data related to gender disparities, using this information to inform decision-making and project development.
  • Advocate for gender equality and the empowerment of women and other marginalized groups, both within the organization and in the broader community.
  • Stay current with the latest research and best practices in the field of gender equality and apply this knowledge to programme design and implementation.
  • Develop and implement gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation systems in coordination with the relevant staff to assess the impact of gender-focused initiatives
  • Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder is willing to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description.

​Project brief:

The GIZ Jordan project “Supporting Jordanian training providers in offering labour market oriented vocational training in Jordan (MOVE-HET II)” aims at the improvement of the Jordanian TVET system in terms of governance, labour market relevance, gender equality, and environmental sustainability/ green skills. The project is commissioned by BMZ (German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) and additional funding is expected from EU and GAC. The MOVE HET II-project is part of the GIZ Cluster for TVET and Education.

The implementation spans national and institutional levels, involving capacity development in vocational education and training for public and private sector stakeholders. The comprehensive project strategy includes capacity development, policy advice, and improved cooperation and coordination within the TVET system.
