Regional Risk and Assurance Manager based in Amman, with some travels to the ICRC country operations in the Near and Middle East region, Grade C2 level.

What we do:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

What you will do:

The Regional Risk and Assurance Manager provides support to ICRC country operations in the Near and Middle East region, to effectively manage risks and protect their capacity to operate, maximize ability to achieve objectives, and avoid harm to people and assets in human, financial, reputational, or operational terms.

We are looking for candidates with experience in humanitarian operations and/or programs implementation, with strong interest in risk management and compliance.  Knowledge/experience in risk management, compliance, accountability or monitoring and evaluation is a plus. A comprehensive on-boarding and continuous support on in-house risk management methodologies and tools will be provided to enable you do the job. You can take your career to the next level by being our Risk and Assurance Manager in a Delegation (country) or Region.

Who you will interact with:

  • Delegation (country) level: Delegation Management team, Assistance and Protection Coordinators, Support Departments Coordinators and other key staff in all departments, Integrity Advisor and Code of Conduct (CoC) Facilitator
  • Regional level: Regional Management team, Heads of Sectors, Operations Coordinators, Regional Resource Network (RRN) thematic specialists, Regional/Delegation Integrity Advisors, Heads of Delegations, Delegations Management teams, Department Coordinators
  • Risk & Assurance (R&A) & Other related métiers: Field R&A Managers, Métier R&A Managers, Internal Controllers, Due-Diligence Specialists, Integrity Advisors, Internal Auditors
  • External: May interact with external auditors and some donors at country/regional level

Who we are looking for:

Professional experience

  • Minimum of 12 to 15 years of professional experience, e.g. in administration, operations, development, programme management and other relevant fields, with at least 5 years in a managerial role
  • At least 5 years of work experience in risk and compliance
  • At least 5 years’ work in the field operations/programs management in an international humanitarian organization (ICRC experience a strong asset)
  • Experience in complex / emergency operations an asset
  • International experience is an asset

Education and qualifications

  • University degree in Business, Social Development, Policy, Economics, Law, and Administration or other relevant degree
  • Certification in risk and compliance management (e.g. Certified Risk Manager, Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), etc.) or equivalent ground experience
  • Certification in project management or equivalent ground experience
  • Certification in process design and re-engineering (e.g. LEAN Six Sigma) or equivalent ground experience
  • Fluent command of English (minimum C1) and Arabic
