The GIZ Jordan Project " German Energy Academy (GEA)” is seeking to hire an “Energy Advisor – Focus: Economic Development” for full-time based employment.
The project aims to establish the German Energy Academy (GEA) as an independent, regionally recognized, and financially sustainable provider of energy transition training. This is crucial given the increase in renewable energy projects and energy efficiency measures in the region. The GEA upskills technicians in all fields of energy applications, including photovoltaics, battery storage, and electric vehicles. So far, GEA has trained more than 1,000 trainees from Jordan and the region, with an outreach focus on refugee communities and gender equality.
Funded by the International Climate Initiative (ICI), the project is implemented by GIZ in collaboration with the Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), the German-Jordanian University (GJU), the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), and two German partners. The project is set to run for two years.
Qualifications and Specialist Knowledge
- Master’s in business administration / management, Oorganizational Development or similar.
- 5 years of work experience in the field of Business / Organizational Development or relevant areas preferably in the Energy and/or TVET Sector.
- Sound knowledge of GIZ procedures is a preferred asset.
- Relevant experience in multi-stakeholder management is an advantage.
- Relevant experience in the Energy and/or TVET sector in Jordan is an additional asset.
- Fluent written and oral knowledge of English. Knowledge of German language is an additional asset.
- Ability to cope with dynamic situations of cooperation system in international development and to cooperate with others.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and revise jointly with project partners the business plan of the German Energy Academy (GEA).
- Support the legal advisors of the project partners in setting up a private entity structure of the GEA.
- Contribute to the coordination of working groups with Jordanian and German project partners, with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and with other TVET/energy related projects of GIZ.
- Support the Commission Manager in the preparation and documentation of meetings, workshops; and in setting up internal administrative processes.
- Perform tasks on request of the Commission Manager
Work location will be Amman, Jordan.
