Islamic Relief Jordan is a country branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief Worldwide is an internationally recognized charity, looking back on nearly 40 years of experience in humanitarian and developmental aid. It was founded in 1984 in Birmingham, UK, in response to the devastating famine in the Horn of Africa. Since then, Islamic Relief has grown into a charity that is active worldwide, putting development projects, emergency aid, and rebuilding projects into action in over 28 countries around the world.

Islamic Relief Jordan (IRJ) began its operations in 1997 with orphan’s sponsorship, sponsoring hundreds of orphans living in Jordan. IRJ extended its programs to seasonal projects with Ramadan and Qurbani distributions and In-Kind donations. IRJ has established strong partnership with international non-governmental organization and local one’s strengthening the overall response to the Syria crisis. At the onset of Syria humanitarian crisis in late 2011, IRJ provided emergency response to those affected by violence in Syria and has since then scaled up its capacity and operations with number of 70 staff across the country.

The health department has successfully introduced interventions in multi-component projects providing primary, secondary and tertiary health care services. The department also provides medical assistive equipment, health awareness sessions, and dialysis support

Islamic Relief Jordan country office is seeking to hire the following position:
Project officer responsible for the overall management of Assistive Care, Community Empowerment, Support, and Services (A.C.C.E.S.S.) in Jordan that provides medical assistive equipment and rehabilitation sessions to the most vulnerable in the south of Jordan.

Job purpose and overall responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the successful management of the health project through the project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Lead the project team in home visits, assessments, and selection of rightsholders
  • Present rightsholders to management and seek approvals for equipment and follow-up sessions
  • Ensure proper and timely implementation of current projects and grants
  • Monitor projects’ risks and challenges
  • Oversee the quality of healthcare services provided and ensure the projects are implemented in line with donor proposals and requirements and in accordance with IRJ, donor, country, and international standards i.e. Sphere and CHS standards.
  • Monitor expenditures and report any (over/under spend)
  • Write and submit quality reports in a timely manner in collaboration with the project team and other IRJ departments
  • Provide regular and as needed reports on the activities and progress of the health projects
  • Ensure activities are documented and close follow-up on deadlines and submissions
  • Ensure data collection follows IRW policies and procedures in collaboration with the MEAL department
  • Resolve conflict within the team and seek support from the line manager if
  • Maintain regular and supportive communication with other IRJ departments and sectors with the objective of ensuring positive cooperation.
  • Managing all rightsholders follow up, feedback, and complaints and report to Health Coordinator
  • Have sufficient experience in technical purchases of medical equipment
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the line manager

Core humanitarian competencies:

  • Good knowledge of gender, protection, and inclusion issues in Jordan’s local contexts.
  • Good understanding of international humanitarian principles and standards including CHS, SPHERE, ICRC Code of Conduct, etc

 

Qualification:

  • Health related background, preferred in allied health sciences (Speech Therapist, Physiotherapy , Occupational therapist
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in health program, I/NGO experience required
  • Extensive experience working with NGO health partners, health systems and providing technical assistance and support in developing or humanitarian country contexts
  • Strong leadership skills and team management skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees at all levels within the organization and externally and to relate to people from different backgrounds.
  • Professional competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Adaptable, flexible, and mature in judgment.
  • Good assessment, planning, and reporting skills.
  • Has the ability and motivation to travel and work in remote areas.

Languages:

  • Very good in spoken and written English.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic
