What you'll do

Operations & incident management

- Operate and monitor AWS workloads across multiple accounts, regions and stages (dev, test, prod)

- Proactively detect, analyse and resolve incidents within strict SLAs, incl. outside business hours

- Handle incidents, problems, service requests and changes end-to-end in an ITSM tool (e.g. ServiceNow), incl. root cause analysis

- Coordinate escalations with AWS Support and third parties

- Take part in a 24/7 on-call rotation (primary/secondary responder)

Application onboarding & deployment

- Onboard new applications and adapt existing environments at short notice

- Prepare and execute deployments of application artefacts on change request

- Operate containerised workloads (Docker) with S3 storage and WAF protection

Maintenance & resilience

- Maintain patch baselines and run monthly patching of Windows and Linux systems via AWS Systems Manager

- Maintain golden AMIs / base images

- Backup & restore, disaster recovery tests, business continuity plans

- Manage endpoint protection and antivirus agents

Infrastructure as Code & automation

- Build and maintain infrastructure with Terraform, CloudFormation and CDK

- Design self-healing, disposable infrastructure (automatic rebuild instead of repair)

- Automate recurring operational tasks

Platform engineering

- Support design and implementation of new AWS platform services together with the client's cloud team

- Work with Control Tower, Organizations/SCPs, IAM, Security Hub, GuardDuty, Transit Gateway, Site-to-Site VPN, Network Firewall, Route 53, SNS/SES, ACM

- Regular optimisation reviews: cost (rightsizing, Reserved Instances), security and automation

Security & compliance

- Apply CIS Benchmarks and AWS security best practices

- Support the client's Security Operations Center (SOC) with analysis of alerts and findings

- Work within strict compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR) and support audits

Monitoring & documentation

- Define and maintain monitoring checks, thresholds and alerting (e.g. CloudWatch and 3rd-party tools)

- Maintain runbooks, playbooks, recovery plans, architecture diagrams and architecture decisions

- Update documentation after every incident, change and patch

What you bring

- Min. 3 years of hands-on AWS experience in production environments

- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK)

- Strong Linux and Windows Server administration (Microsoft or Red Hat background)

- Experience with monitoring and ticketing tools

- Basic knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, problem, change)

- Fluent English, written and spoken

- Willingness to work in a 24/7 on-call rotation

- Willingness to pass a background/security check

Nice to have

- AWS certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps/CloudOps Administrator or higher)

- AWS Professional or Specialty certification (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, Security Specialty)

- ITIL Foundation certificate

- PKI / certificate management experience

- Container experience (Docker, Kubernetes)

- Experience in regulated industries

- German language skills

AWS Cloud Engineer – Managed Services (Remote, Jordan)

The role

You will operate, secure and continuously improve AWS environments and internet-facing applications in a 24/7 managed service model, and support our clients' platform teams in building new AWS services. You act as a qualified 2nd-level team – not end-user support. We expect independent, pragmatic engineering, not just following instructions.
