The Program / Department / Team

The Youth Grow Activity (YGA) is an innovative project designed to provide targeted support to youth in Jordan over the next five years (2023-2028) to empower them to become active and productive participants in Jordanian society, government, and economy. At its core, YGA emphasizes the need for Positive Youth Development (PYD) tenants to include youth and broader ecosystems in design and implementation, creating an enabling environment for youth. The Youth Grow Activity key interventions will focus on three core objectives: (1) preparing youth for economic opportunities through access to high-quality online career counseling and entrepreneurship information; (2) strengthening youth leadership through targeted support of local Youth-Led Organizations (YSOs) and Youth Serving Organizations (YLOs); and (3) strengthening youth support systems in Jordan to ensure effective youth participation, create youth inclusive and enabling environment. 

 

General Description

The YGA is looking to hire a youth (18-29) Years old. The data collectors will play an essential role in assisting the YGA in collecting data regarding community mapping in order to identify available career opportunities in the local communities. The data collector will receive a full day of training in Amman including data collection purposes, assessment objectives, best practices, and the survey questions to ensure an accurate data collection process. After the training, the data collector is expected to collect data from private sector within their residence governors after. The YGA will hire 12 data collectors, one from each governorate.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understanding the target population and sampling strategy.
  • Conducting interviews, and surveys, according to the assessment plan.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and ethical standards in data collection.
  • Recording accurate and complete responses from participants.
  • Identifying and approaching potential participants based on the target population criteria.
  • Explaining the purpose and benefits of participation in the assessment.
  • Obtaining informed consent from participants before data collection activities.
  • Coordinating with participants to schedule data collection sessions at convenient times and locations.
  • Ensuring that participants are aware of the date, time, and purpose of the data collection activities.
  • Collaborating with other data collectors and team members to ensure consistency in data collection processes.
  • Communicating effectively with survey participants.
  • Demonstrating cultural sensitivity and respect towards participants' backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Adhering to timelines and deadlines for data collection activities.
  • Gathering feedback from participants about their experience during the data collection process and reporting them back to the project supervisor.
  • Document and report any challenges or issues encountered during data collection to the task’s supervisor.
  • Seeking clarification or guidance from the project supervisor as needed to ensure the collection of high-quality data.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Gain an understanding of how the project's activities are developed and executed.
  • Participate in capacity building session, focusing on enhancing skills in data collection processes, adhering to best practices, and ensuring data quality. This training will cover an introduction to YGA, project objectives, the purpose of assessment tools, and their use.
  • Acquire proficiency in Information Management, including the use of data collection systems, familiarity with data collection forms, and working with trackers/Excel sheets.
  • Apply knowledge by practice data collection, demonstrating an understanding of its best practices.

 

Deliverables

  • High quality and accurate 50 filled survey with private Companies.

 

Accountability

Reports Directly To: YGA Education & Career Counseling Component Lead.

 

LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT

The data collector will receive training in Amman, Jordan and is expected to work (collect data) in his/her residence location.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The data collector shall have the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this consultancy:

  • Unemployed/Available.
  • Prior experience in data collection
  • Excellent skills in collecting accurate data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience in using technology (tablets) to collect data

 

LEVEL OF EFFORT / PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

The total Level of Effort (LOE) estimated for this assignment is a period of up to 10 working days, 6 hours per day.
