Partnership Officer

Overall Purpose 

The Partnership Officer position exists to facilitate and strengthen partnerships between Medair and its partners across all sctors. This role is crucial for ensuring effective communication, coordination, and resource sharing with partners, aiming to achieve common goals and maximize the benefits for all stakeholders. This position is essential for driving the organization’s mission through sustainable partnerships.

Project/Department Overview

The partnership department within Medair Jordan Office manages partnerships across all sectors in the organization, including Social Protection, PSS, and Health. The department leads the identification of new partners, conducts organizational assessments, and handles the contracting processes. Additionally, it liaises with other programmes and support departments to ensure effective implementation and financial management of partners’ sub-grants.

Essential Responsibilities 

Partnership Management (30%)

  • Support partners kick-offs, review and closure meetings led by the Partnership Manager and PMs across all sectors and grants
  • Coordinate with programme and support departments to ensure smooth implementation and regular reporting of partner sub-grant.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on partnership activities and challenges.
  • Conduct monitoring visits to partners’ field offices
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all partnership-related processes and documents.
  • Ensure regular update of the partners tracker.

Partner Operational Management (15%)

  • Ensure receiving financial reports and expenditures related to partner sub-grants.
  • Liaise with the Partnership Finance Officer to ensure partners receive payments and follow-up on the progress
  • Liaise with support team on the partners’ procurement requirements

Assessment and Contracting (25%)

  • Support new partners identification process across all sectors
  • Work with relevant staff to ensure all partners undergo capacity assessment and vetting prior to partnering with Medair
  • Support CBOs mapping, selection, and assessment for technical capacity building.
  • Prepare MoUs for selected CBOs.

Partner Capacity Building (30%)

  • Collect data from partners’ assessment to develop tailored capacity building plans
  • Ensure conducting pre-and-post training assessments
  • Support the proper implementation of the capacity building plans for partners in coordination with other departments
  • Ensure regular follow-up and coordination with our partners’ network
  • Support facilitating induction training sessions for Medair staff on partnership new processes and tools.

Deputizing for Partnership Manager as required

Required Educational Background / Experience/ Technical and Personal Know-Hows

Level of education required

A university degree required in one of the following fields: international relations, programme management, international development, social sciences, or related relevant field

Working experience required

3 – 5 years of experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically in partnerships, grants and programme management, capacity building. Skills and experience in managing and coordinating with multiple partners concurrently is highly regarded

Language skills 

Fluency in English and Arabic is required

Information system skills

Strong level of computer literacy 

Technical skills

  • Experienced in using partnership tools, training modules and plans, Grants management, report writing, Sphere and CHS standards, other international humanitarian guidelines 

Behavioural skills

  • Excellent in interpersonal and problem-solving skills, communication skills
  • Confidence speaking to groups of various sizes, primarily in training situations; whether in person or online
  • Demonstrate to pay attention to details
  • Flexible and able handle pressure well
  • Flexibility in frequent traveling to other governorates in Jordan

Internal: Partnership Manager, Medair Programme teams, Medair support teams.

External: Partners, local organizations and CBOs.
