BACKGROUND
The Jordan Economic Reform Activity Task Order 1 (ERA TO1) is a 5-year $54 million program funded by USAID, aiming to support the Government of Jordan (GOJ) in prioritizing and implementing economic reforms. Through coordination with the GOJ, the Jordanian and international private sector, other donors, and Jordanian civil society, ERA TO1 will (1) advance economic reforms, (2) strengthen the business enabling environment, (3) increase exports and local, regional, and international investments, and (4) respond to emerging priorities.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Business Enabling Environment Component Coordinator will support ERA TO1's objective to advance the economic reform agenda, stimulating the local business enabling environment in Jordan. The BEE Coordinator will work closely with the BEE Component Lead and the BEE team to coordinate and facilitate implementation of activities, deliverables, MEL activities and reports. As direct support to the BEE component team, s/he will act as one of the links between the technical and operational staff and facilitate the successful submission of the project deliverables. The Component Coordinator will be responsible to coordinate external communications and meetings with key project stakeholders, including Government of Jordan ministers and officials, private sector firms, and others. S/he will be responsible for preparing for meetings and conducting cursory research, attending meetings, and following up with internal and external stakeholders on agendas, meeting outcomes, and action items. Additionally, s/he will support daily project office activities and provide general project management, analysis, presentation of information, and communications support to the Component team.
The position will be performed in ERA office as a full-time position, with some travel required to Aqaba.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support closely work with the BEE Component Lead and the BEE team to provide executive assistance for activities, particularly those involving engagement with external stakeholders, information management, project management, analysis, and presentation of information.
- Act as the coordinator between BEE Component, other technical, and the operational staff to ensure flow of information in support of successful implementation and communication of progress, challenges, and delays of the technical activities in a timely manner.
- Support the component in drafting, developing, and reviewing Scopes of Work (SOW) for service providers and consultants to carry out technical activities.
- Support the BEE Component Lead and the BEE team in overseeing the implementation of ASEZA’s economic reform activities.
- Support reviewing and updaing existing regulations, policies, and laws governing economic activities within ASEZA, as required.
- Support the BEE Component Lead to manage multiple subcontracts and consultants and follow up on deadlines and submission of deliverables. Schedule and provide logistical support for meetings with external parties, as needed.
- Participate in developing the component strategy, annual work plan, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, coordinating any administrative or logistical issues during implementation with related team members.
- Support the BEE Component Lead and MEL team to design tools for tracking component outcomes and impact, including data collection tools from subcontractors and liaise with BEE component advisors to ensure up-to-date updates of all indicators.
- Conduct cursory research on subjects related to BEE Component activities, prepare briefing documents or other relevant communications as needed.
- Support agenda development for BEE meetings and communications with external partners and stakeholders, develop and maintain the BEE internal management meetings’ agendas and follow up with the staff on action items.
- Track progress of BEE activities and action items; follow up with relevant parties on deadlines and submission of deliverables, Provide activity-based budget development support.
- Develop and maintain the needed tools and tracking sheets necessary for undertaking the roles and responsibilities of this position and ensure proper filling of BEE deliverables and managing the component filling system
- Ensure collaboration and coordination, sharing of information, needs, and progress across all functions and components of ERA to implement as one team including but limited to GESI, MEL, Communications, and all component team leads.
- Operate with integrity and assurance of confidentiality, commitment to excellence, compliance with all USAID rules and regulations, contractual requirements, and Chemonics policies, systems, and values.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the BEE Component Leader or BEE Team, the Deputy Chief of Party, and the Chief of Party.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in law or relevant field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of four years of experience in business, economics, and/or government.
- Excellent project management skills, having a Project Management certificate such as PMP is a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with Jordan's business and investment environment.
- High degree of organization and coordination skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with culturally diverse staff.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle clients from different backgrounds.
- Excellent use of both Arabic and English language in speaking, reading, and writing.
- Experience with donor-supported projects is a plus.
