Job Summary

The INSO Syria Training Team deliver trainings in travel safety, security management, crisis management, humanitarian negotiations, and other topics as needed. Trainings are delivered online and in-person across Syria response countries. The successful candidate will be a Training Officer based in Amman. Under the supervision of the Training Manager, the successful candidate will support all aspects of INSO training including needs assessment, course development, facilitation of training, and evaluation of training. The successful candidate will be an engaging, up-beat facilitator who can create a comfortable and engaging training environment.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have experience working with humanitarian organisations, and experienced in administrative tasks. The candidate will be motivated, and self-directed, taking initiative when needed. They should have a keen interest in INSO, the Syria context and the humanitarian sector.

Major Responsibilities

1. Training Needs Assessment:

•Participate in Training Needs Assessments, including focus groups, interviews, data processing and reporting.

• Informally gather information on training needs through regular contact with INSO partners.

• Use assessment of training needs to make recommendations on training plans for Northeast Syria.

2. Course Development:

• Support the TM to design training courses using a range of learning methods.

• Ensure trainings are contextualised and use clear examples from the Syria context.

• Support the TM in translating training materials from English as needed.

3. Training Facilitation:

• Facilitate training in an interesting and engaging manner.

• Create a safe environment where participants feel comfortable to share their experiences and point-of-view.

• Organise training logistics and administration, e.g. prepare training schedules, organise venues, advertise training, print materials etc. Maintain an inventory of training supplies, materials, and equipment, including safe storage

.4. Monitoring & Evaluation:

• Ensure pre/post-tests are completed for relevant trainings.

• Ensure evaluation forms are completed for all trainings.

• Update M&E databases after each training.

• Complete Sessions Reports and other reporting as requested by TM.

5. Other:

• Attend INSO Syria roundtables, read INSO Syria reports etc. to stay informed of the context and INSO services.

• Build good relationships with INSO Syria partners.

• Work with INSO Syria colleagues on the administration of procurement requests, finance and budget control, travel and accommodation for field missions etc.

• Other duties as requested by the TM.

Mandatory Requirements

• A University Degree in political science, international relations, law, education, communications or another relevant academic program

• A minimum of 3 years training or humanitarian field experience

• Demonstrable experience in administration and/or logistics

• Fluent in English and Arabic

• Computer Skills: competency in Microsoft Office including Power Point and Excel

• Ability to quickly learn about, online training software and methodologies

• Knowledge of and commitment to humanitarian principles

Nice to have

• First Aid qualifications

• Experience with NGO safety, security, and access, and/or project management

• Ability to develop and maintain diverse relationships and contacts

• Experience in the development and review of security risk assessments and security management plans.

• Knowledge of adult learning methodologies, adult education and interest in vocational training.

Terms & Conditions:

12-month contract with 3-month probation period and expected start date on or before 12/09/2025.
