Facilitator

 

Job Purpose

Responsible for engaging visitors with exhibits, programs, and workshops, guiding all visitors answering their questions, and delivering various visitor programs and educational offerings to ensure enjoyable, safe, and delightful visitsو This position involves leading hands-on activities, guiding interactive exhibits, and fostering a positive learning environment.

  • To facilitate and guide visitors’ learning experience through a process of assisted discovery; by staffing the exhibits and conducting sessions, demonstrations and programs in and outside the Museum while maintaining a high level of content knowledge for each exhibit.
  • To assist and support visitors with disabilities to ensure enjoyable and beneficial visits.
  • To replenish and maintain program kits and report on shortage of materials.
  • To greet visitors (schools, families, groups) and provide orientations and a brief overview of the Museum.
  • To maintain exhibits' items in the best condition to ensure readiness and safety in coordination with the Maintenance Department, and ensure malfunctioning items are reported and addressed properly.
  • To deliver activities and workshops within the scope of projects, programs and other offerings.
  • To oversee assigned volunteers and monitor their tasks.
  • To report to the direct manager on program evaluation and number of participants.
  • To maintain Tinker Lab space as assigned.
  • To perform other job-related tasks assigned by the direct manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  •                  Activity Facilitation:

    • Lead structured and unstructured play activities for children of various age groups.
    • Ensure activities are safe, educational, and aligned with the museum's mission.
      • Delivering Scientific Presentations:

        • Prepare and present exciting scientific demonstrations that spark children's curiosity.
        • Use interactive techniques to make information easy to understand and engaging.
      • Implementing Activities and Experiments:

        • Organize and facilitate interactive activities and experiments that contribute to hands-on learning.
        • Ensure the safety of children during participation in activities.
      • Character Embodiment:

        • Use character acting to make educational experiences more lively and enjoyable.
        • Interact with children in a way that captures their attention and encourages participation.
      • Visitor Engagement:

        • Effectively communicate with children and families, providing information and support as needed.
        • Encourage visitors to explore exhibits and participate in activities.
  • Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Previous experience working with children in educational, recreational, or museum settings is a plus.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong command of English.
    • Ability to engage and inspire children and families.
    • Creativity and enthusiasm for hands-on learning.
