Job Summary
The MHPSS Technical Manager supports the MHPSS department in provision of technical oversight, supporting implementation of the MHPSS program, setting strategic vision and bringing forth innovation, training and mentoring MHPSS staff, and conducting quality improvement plans. The role also requires supporting the management team in proposal writing, and development of technical documents for training and harmonization of processes and tools. This role will ensure that MHPSS interventions are aligned with international standards, donor requirements, and community needs, focusing on integrating MHPSS within multi-sectoral programs.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Technical support
- Ensure the integration of MHPSS into other sectors, including health, protection, education, and livelihoods.
- Provide technical guidance on MHPSS components during proposal development and program design.
- Ensure the quality and effectiveness of MHPSS services through regular field visits, supervision, and evaluations.
- Evaluate compliance with IMC technical standards through field visits, produce recommendations to improve program performance.
- Contribute to the definition and updating of intervention strategies.
- Support in development of internal technical standards and reference documents that accompany program implementation.
- Ensure harmonization of MHPSS standards and processes at field level.
- Carry out and/or provide input to assessments, baselines studies and evaluations of MHPSS activities.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of MHPSS data, ensuring continuous monitoring and improvement.
- Collaborate with the M&E team to develop appropriate indicators for MHPSS programs.
- Conduct regular program reviews, assess progress, and provide recommendations for improving MHPSS activities.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports for internal use, donors, and stakeholders, documenting successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Assist in developing quality control (appropriate methodologies, data collection techniques for assessments, indicators, and evaluations) of MHPSS services, interventions and community-based psychosocial activities.
- Contribute to program discussions with relevant local and national stakeholders and provide support as needed.
- Advocate internally and externally for MHPSS-related activities, needs and concerns.
Developing the technical expertise of field teams
- Develop and maintain MHPSS technical guidelines, tools, and protocols for program staff.
- Follow up on the MHPSS capacity building framework for IMC case management teams.
- Provide ongoing training for IMC MHPSS staff using the MHCM training manual and other tools in coordination with the MHPSS management team.
- Develop training modules for relevant MHPSS training areas.
- Provide MHPSS training sessions to staff from IMC or external organizations when needed.
- Provide mentorship and on-the-job supervision to program staff and partners to enhance their MHPSS knowledge and skills.
- Take the technical lead on any IMC MHPSS assessment/research prospects or publication that may be developed.
Coordination and communication
- Attend technical meetings related to MHPSS program internally and externally.
- Provide regular input in the MHPSS task force meetings with partners when needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field with a focus on mental health.
- Typically, 5+ years of relevant provision of MHPSS services on different levels and MHPSS community-based approaches.
- Experience working in conflict or post-conflict settings.
- Strong understanding of global MHPSS standards and best practices, including IASC Guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience in capacity building, supervision, and mentoring.
- Experience in program design, proposal writing, and donor reporting.
- Familiarity with key donors (e.g., UNHCR, WHO, ECHO, USAID) and their MHPSS requirements.
- Clinical supervision experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills.
- Strong project management skills and a demonstrated ability to work with teams, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure high quality work.
- Emotional maturity and agility in working in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer literacy with demonstrated experience in utilization of databases and Microsoft Office.
- Fluent in English and relevant local languages
