3D Engineer

Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman, which opened in 2006, is giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic, and maxillo-facial) to war-wounded people providing comprehensive health care, MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.

 

Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery program in Amman and is seeking recruitment for (1) full time 3D Engineer.

 

 

THE JOB:

The 3D Engineer will be part of the 3D project in Amman that provides 3D technology (facial orthosis, prosthesis and 3D designed medical devices) to identified patients. The Engineer will be required to collaborate with the 3D clinical team to find creative solutions to clinical needs. This will require 3D design, 3D printing, preparing protocols and documenting all work performed. The 3D Engineer will work under the supervision of the 3D Manager.

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Clearly communicate with the 3D Manager and other members of the 3D Team
  • Communicate with the 3D Technical Advisor (remote) when encountering technical challenges
  • Perform all necessary complex / advanced installation, operation, maintenance and repair of 3D printers
  • Be responsible for equipment and tools at the hospital and Fab Lab (including 3D printers); ensuring that they are correctly and safely used, maintained and renewed when necessary.
  • Diagnose and repair 3D printers
  • Digital design/ solid modeling (Autodesk Fusion 360 preferred)
  • Prepare designs for 3D printing (i.e. slicing) using Cura, Simplify 3D and Meshmixer software
  • Perform all printing using Ultimaker and Lulzbot 3D printers
  • Post-process 3D printed parts
  • Collaborate with the 3D Team to develop new applications for unmet clinical needs
  • Maintain design portfolio of 3D printable printed parts
