2.Context
Relief International (RI) is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing.
Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.
We do this by working with local actors to develop safe and inclusive local programming that is evidence based, conflict sensitive, climate smart, and reaches those in need.
Relief International is an alliance of four organizations with one shared mission, comprised of Relief International, Inc., Relief International-France, Relief International-UK and Relief International-Europe, which operate under a one-team concept under a single senior leadership team.
3.Job Profile
The Finance Officer is responsible for running day-to-day financial and operations of organizational activities all current and upcoming RI projects. Ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
Your role will be to act as a financial steward, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial operations. You will manage daily transactions, support audits, prepare financial reports, and monitor budgets to ensure resources are effectively allocated and utilized. You will collaborate with project teams to maintain financial transparency and efficiency, driving RI’s mission through robust financial management.
You will ensure the accurate management of financial transactions, compliance with policies and donor regulations, and effective monitoring of budgets. This role requires handling payroll, audits, and financial reporting while maintaining transparency, efficiency, and coordination with teams to support program success.
4.Key Responsibilities
Accountability and Complexity

- Ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with internal policies, and adherence to donor and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain clear, organized records for audits and reporting.
- Adapt to changing priorities, donor guidelines, and regulatory requirements in a fast-paced environment.
Financial Responsibilities
- Reports to the Financial Manager; coordinates with Jordan office PMs and Country Director.
- Book daily financial transactions, including payments, receipts, and journal entries.
- Prepare periodic reconciliations (Cash/Bank/Suppliers/Vendors... etc.)
- Prepare payroll, ensuring compliance with labor laws and internal policies.Ensure timely monthly closing and prepare the monthly financial reports to be reviewed by th
- Finance Manager and then sent to the RSO/GSO on a timely basis.
- Review and audit payment requests to ensure completeness and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Ensures that financial transactions are classified, recorded and summarized properly.
- Monitors Field Office disbursements ensuring that expenses are incurred within the approved budget any award restrictions.
- Monitors the financial aspects of sub grant agreements of partner organizations.
- Maintain proper filing of financial documentation for audit readiness and reference.
- Monitor project budgets, variance analysis, BVAs and recommendations for adjustments.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of audits, both internal and external.
- Recommend, maintain and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Maintain effective communication with team within the finance department.

5.Person Specification
Skills, knowledge and expertise required for the role.
Essential criteria
- A minimum of 4years’ experience in a finance position preferably with non-profit agencies.
- Minimum BA Degree in Accounting or finance.
- The candidate must be detail oriented.
- Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite is highly preferable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel required.
- Excellent command of English strongly preferred.
- Motivated to learn and to share the mission of RI.
- Good team-work skills and ability to work quickly under deadlines
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Ability to think critically and creatively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. Must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
