JOB PURPOSE
REACH is currently seeking qualified applicants with experience in research and/or data to serve as an Assessment Officer on the REACH Mission, to support the Camps and Displacement Unit (C&D).
With the support of in-country and HQ staff, the REACH Assessment Officer (AO) will be responsible for supporting research on a number of topics related to humanitarian needs, displacement, market functionality, livelihoods, and resilience building, among others.
This includes supporting on research design, training of field staff, coordination of data collection and cleaning, analysis of key findings, production of information products (factsheets, dashboards, etc.), and dissemination of information to key response actors and partners.
The overall goal of the AO will be to support in developing the research capacity and expertise of the REACH's research units in order to strengthen the quality and efficiency of REACH research cycles and information products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assessment Officer is responsible for the following:
• Contributing to all steps of relevant Research Cycles of the Camps & Displacements Unit;
• Research planning and design through anticipating information gaps, indicator drafting and review in coordination with clusters and working groups, development of assessment methodology and data collection tool development;
• Supporting data processing and analysis, including design and implementation of data cleaning and analysis plans, and conducting analysis, in close collaboration with the in-country data team;
• Drafting and review of timely and accurate outputs such as factsheets, reports, briefs, presentations, etc;
• Providing information management support to other team members within REACH, or humanitarian stakeholders;
• Supporting the dissemination of REACH products including factsheets, datasets and dashboards;
• Involvement in related external engagement associated with disseminating and communicating the assessment primarily through the development of key messages and presentations for external audiences;
• Other tasks falling within his/her functions as requested by supervisor

Skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, data science, development studies or other related fields;
- Experience conducting research or working with data (M&E, IMO, and academic research experience included);
- Fluency in English, excellent communication and writing skills;
- Experience working in/on humanitarian or development contexts, ideally in/on programs or research related to Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM);
- Technical skills in any of the following:
- Strong Excel skills;
- Previous experience with mobile data collection (ODK, KoBo);
- Experience with cleaning and analysing datasets;
- Knowledge of the Adobe Suite, particularly InDesign;
- Knowledge of Power Bl;
- Good understanding of research methods (including sampling frameworks);
- Experience with external engagement and/or partner coordination;
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to identify and key trends and situate findings in wider context;
- Ability to operate independently in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility and proactivity
