About the role: 

  

As a bid manager, you will lead the bid process for RFXs (RFPs, RFIs) as well as other sales proposals, from opportunity identification to proposal submission and follow-up. This includes ensuring the full end-to-end coordination of the RFX reply and final timely submission of high-quality RFX responses that meet clients’ requirements and ensures compliance with all RPF requirements, SOW and guidelines. You will be working with and coordinating with various teams, including sales, presales, solution engineers, product management, legal and finance to ensure all aspects of a bid are addressed and the submission packaged in a professional and compelling manner in order to position the company for successful awards. The bid manager will also be responsible for all vendor registrations with existing and new clients and to grow this number globally while identifying new business opportunities by monitoring public and private sector tender portals. 

Finally, the bid manager will be responsible for coordinating the sales proposal creation from request to hand-over to sales and account managers.

Objectives of this role 

  • Developing and executing bid strategies that align with the company’s goals and client requirements. 
  • Managing bidding budgets, resources and timelines to ensure on-time and high-quality proposal submissions. 
  • Identifying new business opportunities by monitoring public and private sector tender portals. 
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate bid documentation, including bid files, records of communication and pricing information. 
  • Participating in negotiation sessions to secure favorable terms and conditions while focusing on profitability. 
  • Ensuring compliance with client requirements, regulations and industry standards. 
  • Monitoring and evaluating bid performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.  

 

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Lead and coordinate the entire bid management process, including reviewing bid invitations, conducting bid/no-bid analysis and establishing timelines. 
  • Develop compelling and persuasive bid content, including executive summaries, value propositions, pricing models and technical responses. 
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities through market research, competitor analysis and client need assessment. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as sales, operations and subject matter experts, to gather information and develop bid strategies. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate bid kick off and review meetings, ensuring key stakeholders provide input and address concerns or issues. 
  • Work with pricing teams to develop competitive pricing strategies that align with bid requirements and profitability targets. 
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate bid documentation, including bid files, records of communication and pricing information. 
  • Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to ensure bid proposals meet all legal and regulatory requirements. 
  • Monitor and track bid performance metrics, analyzing win/loss data to identify trends and areas for improvement. 
  • Conduct post-bid analysis and debrief sessions to identify areas of improvement and implement lessons learned for future bids. 
  • Continuously refine and improve bid processes, templates and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Initiate and coordinate the sales proposal creation when requested from sales 
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market insights and emerging best practices in bid management. 

Skills

  • Experience: 
  • A minimum of 5 years in a similar Bid Manager role within the technology sector, ideally focused on the telecommunications industry. 
  • Proven experience winning RFPs and bids including multi-year, multi-million USD contracts. 

 

  • Technical Skills: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field. 
  • Strong understanding of Telecom Industry, mobile networks, telecommunications, and related technologies. 
  • Familiarity with Revenue Assurance and Fraud Management (RAFM) solutions is a significant advantage. 
  • Familiarity with the Fintech space particularly mobile money is an advantage 
  • Demonstrated success in winning bids through effective proposal management. 
  • Strong understanding of the bid lifecycle, proposal writing, development and contract negotiation 
  • Proficiency in using bid management software and MS Office. 
  • Solid English written and spoken English 
  • Familiarity with government procurement processes and industry-specific bid requirements (if applicable). 
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at various levels.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess bid opportunities and develop winning strategies. 
  • Understanding pricing strategies and financial analysis in bid development.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively. 

 

  • Communication and Languages: 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in business English. 
  • Fluency in additional languages, particularly French and Spanish, is a plus.

  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment.
