GENERAL FUNCTION

Survey Data Collector short term consultant for the “Strengthening Civil Society and Media Systems Activity (Sawt) Activity”. Under the supervision of the MERL Manager, the Survey Data Collector will be responsible for gathering accurate and reliable data from target groups through structured surveys, interviews, or other data collection tools. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and adherence to data collection protocols to ensure high-quality data.

The Data collector is expected to complete 30-40 interviews, the expected LoE for this assignment shall be 16 working days.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct surveys or interviews with participants in person, over the phone, or online, depending on project requirements.
  • Ensure all survey questions are administered accurately and in a neutral, unbiased manner.
  • Follow strict protocols for data privacy and confidentiality.
  • Identify and recruit participants according to project guidelines.
  • Explain survey objectives, confidentiality measures, and participation requirements clearly.
  • Address any participant concerns or questions professionally and politely.
  • Accurately record responses and ensure data integrity by verifying entries.
  • Submit collected data promptly through digital or paper-based tools.
  • Report any issues, inconsistencies, or participant challenges to the supervisor.
  • Follow project guidelines, ethical standards, and research protocols.
  • Attend all required training sessions and stay updated on data collection methodologies.
  • Maintain proper record-keeping of activities and fieldwork logs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field such as Social Sciences, Statistics, or Market Research).
  • Previous experience in data collection, surveys, research, or customer service.
  • Previous experience in conducting Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English.
  • Basic proficiency in using data collection tools such as tablets, survey software (e.g., Kobotoolbox, Microsoft Forms), or Excel.
