​Regional Coordinator, International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY 2026)

Context

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, administered by UNDP, promotes volunteerism as a powerful means to advance sustainable human development and build more inclusive, cohesive societies. UNV's Regional Offices (ROs) provide strategic oversight and guidance to Field Units, supporting the mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers with UN partners addressing peace, development, and humanitarian challenges. The Regional Office for the Arab States (ROAS), based in Amman, Jordan, also leads regional efforts in strengthening volunteer infrastructure. The International UN Volunteer Expert assignment of IVY 2026 Regional Coordinator, under the External Relations and Communications Section (ERCS) in Bonn and matrixed to the Regional Portfolio Manager in ROAS, will focus on coordinating outreach, partnerships, and advocacy to support the IVY 2026 initiative across the Arab States.

Description of Duties

  • Lead regional outreach, stakeholder mapping, and advocacy to promote IVY 2026 among governments, UN entities, CSOs, VIOs, private sector, and academia.
  • Adapt communication materials, support national promotion of IVY 2026, and represent UNV in relevant forums.
  • Facilitate national IVY 2026 committee formation and stakeholder engagement at country level.
  • Coordinate regional networking events and support integration of IVY 2026 into ongoing UNV initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on IVY 2026 implementation, collect data, document best practices, and support knowledge sharing.



Skills

Profile Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in advocacy, partnership building, or programme management, with a strong understanding of the Arab States context.
  • Background in volunteerism, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with governments or UN entities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in social development, project management, or related fields.
  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of Arabic required; French is desirable.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and computer literacy skills.
  • Open to nationals from countries other than the duty station; accessible and inclusive work environment provided.
