Islamic Relief Jordan country office is seeking to hire the following position:

Islamic Relief Jordan is a country branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief Worldwide is an internationally recognized charity, looking back on nearly 40 years of experience in humanitarian and developmental aid. It was founded in 1984 in Birmingham, UK, in response to the devastating famine in the Horn of Africa. Since then, Islamic Relief has grown into a charity that is active worldwide, putting development projects, emergency aid, and rebuilding projects into action in over 28 countries around the world.
Islamic Relief Jordan (IRJ) began its operations in 1997 with orphan’s sponsorship, sponsoring hundreds of orphans living in Jordan. IRJ extended its programs to seasonal projects with Ramadan and Qurbani distributions and In-Kind donations. IRJ has established strong partnership with international non-governmental organization and local one’s strengthening the overall response to the Syria crisis. At the onset of Syria humanitarian crisis in late 2011, IRJ provided emergency response to those affected by violence in Syria and has since then scaled up its capacity and operations with number of 70 staff across the country.

The team will be offered transportation from 2 locations: Amman and Zarqaa.
Islamic Relief Jordan country office is seeking to hire the following position:
Medical doctor to work in village 5 health post in Azraq Camp
Major Responsibilities:
The Medical Doctor will be responsible for:
- Providing primary health care activities and relevant medications to rightsholders with the project team
- Implementation of clinical care in cooperation with nurses, pharmacists, field officer, and senior medical doctor
- Providing technical support to the team including pharmacists, nurses, and field officers to ensure quality health services
- Referral of cases for secondary and tertiary care follow-up as needed
- Responsible for the identification of case studies, interviewing, and writing their stories to be shared with donors
- Provide health awareness sessions for the rightsholders and staff as needed and requested.
- Work with the team for rightsholders’ feedback analysis and surveys.
- Support and provide on-the-job training to fellow team members
- Performing other related duties as may be assigned.
Technical skills and experience:
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Strong analysis skills of the needs, social and political context.
- High documentation skills.
- Good humanitarian experiences, especially with refugees.
- Reliable medical knowledge and diagnostic experiences.
Humanitarian & Protection Standards Awareness
- Good knowledge of current humanitarian policy issues and awareness of the broader international humanitarian context.
- Understanding of gender sensitivity, protection, inclusion, and the social cultural context relevant to Jordan / camp settings; ability to apply these in patient care and community interactions.
- Familiarity with recognized humanitarian standards and codes of conduct — including ICRC Fundamental Principles, Sphere Standards (for health, WASH, protection), and Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS) and commitment to uphold them
- Capacity to identify protection risks (e.g. gender-based vulnerabilities, inclusion issues) and manage such risks appropriately: ensure safe, respectful care and make referrals or report cases per safeguarding policy.
Developing and maintaining relationships:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds
- Ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to effectively influence and liaise with key stakeholders on behalf of and in line with Organizational beliefs.
- Make sure that all rightsholders are aware of the donor and the health assistance details terms.
- Responsible to maintain all rightsholders’ record.
Managing yourself in a pressured and changing environment:
- Remain flexible to perform other duties as required or requested.
- The ability to remain calm while dealing with conflicting priorities and working under pressure.
- Operating safely and securely in humanitarian response.
Qualification:
- Registered medical doctor (M.D., B.S degree) with a minimum of 2 years of experience (including 1-year internship) in primary health care settings and clinic management.
- NGO Experience is preferable
- Preferred experience in working in Syrian refugee camp, Azraq or Zaatari
- Strong leadership skills and team management skills. Adaptable, flexible, and mature in judgment.
- Good assessment, planning, and reporting skills.
- Has the ability and motivation to travel and work in remote areas.
- Understanding medical ethics and patient education.
Languages:
- Very good in spoken and written English.
- Fluency in spoken and written Arabic
