Background:
Under the supervision of the Logistics Department, the Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of ACTED staff and for the proper use and care of vehicles and other assigned assets.

(Driver) has the responsibility to adhere to the PSEAH Policy (Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment). The (Driver) has the obligation to complete all mandatory trainings related to the Code of Conduct and the PSEA policy and report any safeguarding concern such as breaches of organisational policies or codes of conduct according to ACTED’s procedures. The (Driver) carries out work duties in a way that does not harm children, vulnerable adults or other staff or volunteers.
Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Logistic officer/assistant, the Driver is responsible for the transportation of ACTED staff and any other assets given to him appropriately, following ACTED safety and security procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. General Responsibilities:
· To transport ACTED staff safely and efficiently within all cities, camps, and districts where ACTED operates.
· To strictly refrain from using the vehicle for private purposes or transporting unauthorized persons.
· To maintain an accurate and clean logbook for every trip, including date, departure and arrival times, starting and ending kilometre readings, route taken, passenger names and signatures, fuel refills, and driver signature.
· To ensure passengers complete and sign the logbook for each trip.
· To accurately record mileage and odometer readings and provide true and fair reports of distances covered and fuel used.
· To submit complete and accurate fuel consumption reports and logbooks to the line manager at the end of each month.
· To always keep the vehicle clean by washing it weekly and cleaning the interior daily.
· To perform any other related duties as assigned by the line manager.
· To support logistics activities when required, including stock handling, receiving, counting, and any other tasks assigned by the Logistics Assistant and Country Logistics Manager.
2: Passenger Safety:
• To bear security/safety responsibility of the passengers on board.
• To make sure the seat belts are fastened both driver and passenger(s) while seated.
• Keep the speed limit of 20 km/h inside Zaatari camp, 40 km/h in cities and 100 km/h while out of cities on highways: respects traffic speed limits/rules while driving all the time. Failing to do so can lead to immediate dismissal.
• To decrease speed, when necessary, like when: passing in front of a school, when animals are visible crossing the road, playgrounds, villages etc.
• Check regularly the “first aid kits” and fire extinguishers inside the vehicle and report any problem to Logistics department.
• To obtain a security clearance prior to departure to the field or another base – when applicable.
• In case of any accidents, due to ignorance of traffic rules and or high speed, driver will be responsible in front of ACTED and the party who have received possible damages.
• To be responsible for following security restrictions while traveling (e.g., curfew, avoiding restricted areas).
• To be responsible for in-time-communication with security or logistics department to inform his and passengers location.
• To have all the necessary contact information in his vehicles (phone contact) and needs to remember the emergency contact numbers.
• Load and unload the vehicle, properly and place items inside vehicle with care and safety measures.
• Note: Failing to follow any of safety rules has immediate reaction as consequence including dismissal.
3: Technical Responsibilities:
• Report immediately any technical failure of vehicle to transport focal point in the logistics department.
• Keep the vehicle clean and always in good condition.
• Undertake a check and control of the vehicle on daily basis before starting the engine.
• Report any defect of vehicle to the Logistic Officer without delays.
• To maintain his vehicle in a good condition.
• To carry weekly check of the vehicle and wash his vehicle chassis weekly.
• To load and unload his vehicle; properly roping down the loading of the vehicle.
• To check and keep with care the tools, the toolbox, and other materials of the vehicle.
• To register and check in a Logbook the fuel delivered and the fuel consumption.
• To perform minor maintenance to his car when needed (fixing/changing flat tires).
• Check the spare tire of the vehicle is in good condition and not FLAT.
• If on long missions, ensure to have enough fuel, additional spare tires, and tools
• To park vehicles at designated and approved locations only during out of working hours.
Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A valid driver’s license required, grade 3 or above.
· A good driving record and understanding of auto mechanics is required.
· Minimum three years of experience. Working in a donor funded project is preferred.
· Good physical health is required.
· Ability to read and write in Arabic.
· English reading and writing are strongly preferred.
