The Trainer for Renewable Energy Systems Technician is a technical expert who will prepare students to install, maintain, and repair renewable energy technologies. The trainer will focus on core systems such as solar photovoltaics (PV), solar thermal, and wind energy. The role is critical for equipping students with the practical skills needed to support Jordan's transition to a greener economy and will emphasize efficiency, safety, and sustainable practices.

The trainer's role extends beyond the classroom and workshop to actively contribute to the sustainability of the institution by participating in income-generating activities (IGAs). This may include, but is not limited to, delivering upskilling courses for industry professionals, conducting technical consultancies, and supporting activities within Business Incubator. This dual responsibility underscores the trainer's importance not only in education but also in ensuring long-term financial health and relevance to the private sector.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Deliver the comprehensive Renewable Energy Systems Technician curriculum, utilizing the provided Teaching, Training and Learning Materials (TTLM) and the institution's Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Program Review: Actively participate in the review of the program's DACUM, Occupational Standards, and Framework Curriculum, providing expert feedback to help maintain and improve their quality and alignment with industry needs.
  • Practical Workshop Instruction: Supervise and instruct students on the installation, wiring, and commissioning of solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, and battery storage. This also extends to solar thermal systems for water heating.
  • System Diagnostics: Teach students to perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot system malfunctions using specialized equipment. This includes understanding system performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols for working with high-voltage electrical systems and at heights. Ensure all training activities comply with local and national electrical and building codes.
  • Energy Efficiency: Integrate concepts of energy conservation and efficiency into all lessons, training students on how to design and install systems that maximize energy output and minimize waste.
  • Contribution to Institutional Sustainability: Participate in and lead income-generating activities (IGAs). This may include, but is not limited to, providing upskilling courses for the private sector, conducting technical consultancies, supporting and engaging in applied research, and mentoring entrepreneurs and businesses associated with the Business Incubator.
