The GIZ Jordan Projects "Access to Justice and Building for Prevention II” are seeking to hire a “Project Leader” for full-time based employment.
The core of the position holder would be to take over the overall management of the Access to Justice project. This includes full responsibility for steering the implementation of activities on a day to day basis, in close coordination with the Technical Advisor. The manager would work with the team on planning activities, following up on implementation, addressing operational and coordination challenges, and ensuring that the workplan and contractual obligations are met.
The position holder would also be the main counterpart for the commissioner. This includes managing the ongoing operational relationship, coordinating inputs and follow up, and being responsible for the preparation and timely submission of the bi annual progress reports and any other reporting or coordination required under the contract. In parallel, the manager would represent the project towards the Jordanian partners, in particular the Ministry of Justice and the Judicial Council, and would participate in coordination meetings, such as representing the project in “Legal Aid and Alternative Sanctions Committee” of the Ministry of Justice as well as the cluster meetings and in any other coordination or donor formats where project level representation is needed.
Beyond Access to Justice, the position holder would also take over the line management of the national staff recruited under the Building for Prevention project. Supporting staff in their daily work, and addressing implementation related issues.
Qualifications and Specialist Knowledge
- Master´s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, International Development or related discipline.
- Proven leadership and project management skills, demonstrated through previous roles as a team leader or similar management position in projects of similar complexity and scope;
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in international development cooperation in the social sector, ideally social protection and/or inclusion.
- At least 5 years’ experience of working with government bodies in Jordan
- Strategic and analytical thinking and acting, ability to grasp new concepts rapidly and prioritise key topics
- Excellent social, communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in Arabic is essential.
- Proficiency in oral and written English, German is an asset
- In-depth working experience with international organisations in a managerial position
- Proven work experience with the public sector institutions is an asset.
Main Responsibilities
- You will manage an EU funded project in technical, financial and administrative terms and will be responsible for budget control, financial planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
- Disciplinary function for national project staff of several projects, as needed.
- You will be responsible for the dialogue and cooperation with political partners, implementing partners and clients.
- You will ensure the management of external assessors and consultants for the provision of services
- You will ensure results-oriented monitoring and the corresponding reporting.
- You will be responsible for synergies and interfaces with other projects and initiatives in the context, as well as for the professional external presentation of the project
- The position holder might also be responsible for other work packages in other projects
