Job Details

This is to announce that Amman delegation has a vacancy for a Fleet New Technology Adviser at the Logistics Support Center in Amman, Jordan.

The Fleet Technology Adviser guides fleet technical staff worldwide towards achieving a high level of maintenance and service standards and is the know-how leader for ICRC delegations on new transportation technologies.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internally, interacts with Logistics Country managers, Finance and administration managers and Vehicle Fleet managers, workshop managers and mechanics in the delegations
  • Externally, interacts with manufacturers, technical and driving training centres, local authorities and their energy departments.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct and Procurement Code of Ethics
  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times.
  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times.
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC
  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary
  • Advocate for a sustainable solution when possible and working in close contact with the GVA sustainability team.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical support

  • Supports users by proposing technical solutions and providing the necessary training.
  • Centralize all the technical requests and liaise with the delegations to solve the issues.
  • Organize or upon request field visits,
  • Communicate with vehicle manufacturers' technical hubs for technical support when required.
  • Ensure that ICRC technicians have access to all specialized tools and manufacturer technical websites.
  • Create technical notes or repair manuals related to technical issues and share them worldwide.
  • Liaise with the delegations using Renault Trucks and proposes & organizes preventive or curative visits with the Renault Diagnostic Tool.
  • Advises technicians worldwide on troubleshooting and repairing both complex electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Provides the LOG Fleet/GVA & his Fleet New Technology colleague in Amman with the latest technical manuals needed in the field.

Technical Training

  • Organize or outsource Renault truck trainings globally and upon request,
  • Organize or outsource other manufacturer technical trainings for AFENG region (Truck, boat, lifting equipment etc.)
  • Organize or outsource trainings of the AFENG mechanics on new technologies (electric/hybrid vehicles).
  • Act as global administrator for ELECTUDE e-learning. Monitor and support trainees. Update frequently Vehicle fleet managers trainees’ evolution.

Driving and operation Training

  • Organize or outsource Truck defensive/off-road, Lifting equipment operation and boat handling trainings
  • Set and monitor ICRC standards minimum requirement for in-house and outsourced trainings,
  • Acts as global administrator for Truck defensive/off-road, Lifting equipment operation and boat handling trainings. Register trainings and monitor certification

Diagnostic Tools

  • Keep the AFENG diagnostic tools inventory list up to date and makes sure all the diagnostic tools are registered, in working condition and updated properly.
  • Organize or outsource trainings for mechanics on all the diagnostic tools available in AFENG region and supervises their use.
  • Liaise and guide the delegations in the choice of purchase of diagnostics or specialized tools.

New technologies

  • Follows up the latest technologies in relation to vehicle fleet needs worldwide
  • Proposes processes and structural changes related to vehicle service when required.
  • Assume and organize implementing fleet environmental solutions and future vehicle innovations. (i.e. Hybrid / electric / solar).

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments
  • Is aware of the delegation’s objectives and has a good knowledge of the Movement and other contacts relevant to the position
  • Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings and in the field, and avoids any activity that may reflect negatively on the ICRC’s image
  • Takes responsibility for their own professional learning and development
  • The employee may be asked to perform duties and tasks not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when necessary
  1. Reporting

Writes visit reports after each support mission.

After each training, writes summary report with feedback and recommendations.

Provides contributions to technical reports when required.

  1. Administration – Finance

Knows, applies and complies with all the administrative procedures linked to his work (financial procedures, time reporting, budget follow up …etc)

Keeps training files up to date at all times

  1. Information

Informs his supervisor about dysfunctions in the daily work and report anything abnormal referring to a delegation to the RVFM / AM Fleet support technical manager

Has a proactive approach and participates to a constructive dialogue with the delegations (shares propositions, difficulties, experiences, constraints).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Relevant Degree from a recognized university,
  • Mechanical and electrical engineering degree in industrial vehicle technology,
  • Minimum experience of 5 years as Industrial vehicle mechatronic, Lifting equipment and boats experience as an asset,
  • Experience in an international organization or NGO is an asset
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (Knowledge of French is an asset),
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point), with experience in asset management ERPs
  • Certificate of good conduct,
  • Valid truck driving license mandatory, forklift and/or boat certification is an asset,
  • Precise, rigorous with high sense of confidentiality and integrity,
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills,
  • High organizational and analytical skills,
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure with minimum supervision,
  • Independent with sense of responsibility and initiative,
  • Strong team leadership skills and supervision experience is an asset,
  • Able to develop and sustain a network of key contacts.
  • Expected to travel regularity in various countries
