Construction Manager

Main responsibilities

 Main objectives

 Planning, coordinating, and monitoring all logistics activities in the project related to construction and rehabilitation according to MSF protocols and standards in order to ensure that construction works meet the needs of MSF programs.

Main responsibilities and tasks

A) Organization of Construction Works:

- Remotely monitoring the construction works according to the general chronogram provided by the contractor, incl. anticipating the needs in terms of budget, HR and Supply by e.g., preparation of cash requests and payments etc. if needed. Estimate when the payment milestones will be achieved by the contractor.

B) Quality control on site. Remotely support the construction supervisor in:

- Ensuring compliance to MSF Specifications and ensuring that the work is according to drawings.

- Ensuring that samples is provided in a timely manner are of proper quality (according to the contract documents) before the samples are approved by the partner.

C) Budget/payment Management:

- Measuring produced quantities alongside the partner and the contractor. Updating the BoQ weekly with produced quantities.

- Report to finance on the progress on produced quantities, as preparation for payments to the partner.

D) Design:

- Finalize the detail designs, and make sure there are no “collisions” between different technical families (electricity, ICT, WatSan, HVAC, oxygen pipes.. etc)

- Make additional detail drawings as needed to ensure the contractors compliance to our design.

- Solve unplanned design issues as they are unveiled on site.

- Make the as built drawings.

E) Reports and Meetings:

- Participate daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with the different actors in the construction projects (Companies, Landowner, partner’s team….)

- Biweekly meeting with the Coordination to update them on the status of the dossier (challenges, achievements, needed support)

- Compile the monthly SitRep based on report from the construction supervisor.

F) Support RFIs & COs:

- Support the stakeholders answering the Request for Information regarding the architectural design.

- Support the stakeholders delivering Change Order if needed.

G) Support partner’s team (local NGO): - Support the Partner team in MSF construction protocols, standars and procedures related matters if needed.

H) Capitalization of information:

- Gather relevant project information through the process, and at the end of mission, analyze for future cases (lessons learned, challenges, etc).

I) Others:

- Be flexible for any added task delegated by the line manager.

- Be flexible for any field visits, as this position may require field visits depending on security conditions.
