The GIZ Jordan Project Technical Assistance to Support the Access to Justice is seeking to hire an “Junior Law Advisor” based in Jordan- for full-time base employment.

The GIZ GmbH is implementing the Technical Assistance to Support Access to Justice as part of the EU-funded Support to Access to Justice in Jordan program, implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Launched in October 2024 and running through July 2027, the GIZ Technical Assistance project focuses on strengthening legal aid services and promoting the use of alternative sanctions within Jordan's justice system.

This project is designed to complement the EU-funded Budget Support Programme to the Rule of Law by strengthening the rule of law and advancing human rights for all in Jordan. Through close cooperation with Jordanian justice stakeholders, the project aims to improve access to affordable legal services while fostering transparency and accountability across the judicial system.

GIZ's contribution centers on three key areas:

  • Policy and Strategy Development: Providing technical assistance to support the formulation of strategic frameworks.
  • Capacity Development: Strengthening the skills and capabilities of key justice sector stakeholders.
  • Technical Expertise: Offering specialized knowledge and solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the justice sector.

Qualifications and specialist knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, International Relations, Public Administration, Project Management, Law, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in project support, coordination, or administrative roles, preferably within international development, governance, or legal sector projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in Arabic and English, with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • High accuracy in documentation, reporting, and maintaining project records.
  • Capability in data collection, research, and assisting in evaluations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively, and adapt to changing priorities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide legal insights and recommendations on legal aid and alternative sanctions under Senior Advisor's guidance.
  • Monitor legal developments and advise the project team on impacts and opportunities.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders (Ministry of Justice, Judicial Council) and offer technical input.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among project partners and stakeholders to align with project objectives.
  • Draft official correspondence, briefs, and background materials for government and civil society meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of training content and events, gathering feedback and recommending improvements.
  • Conduct research on best practices for legal aid mechanisms and alternative sanctions.
  • Provide administrative and budget monitoring support, ensuring compliance with procurement and donor regulations.

Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder is willing to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description.
