This is to announce that Amman delegation has a vacancy for a Mental Health and Psychosocial Field Officer at the Protection Department in Amman, Jordan.
As part of the Protection Department at the level of the ICRC Delegation in Jordan, and within the frame of the Accompaniment Program initiated as a result of various needs identified among families of missing persons, the Psychologist 2 develops, implements and follows up the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities targeting the families of missing persons and contributes to the general updates regarding the MHPSS needs of the target population.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internally, interacts with ICRC staff related to the accompaniment program (Protection team, Economic Security team, etc.).
Externally, interacts with institutional authorities as well as local and international actors. Liaises with the various stakeholders relevant to the project and participates in external meetings.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Delegate based in Amman, the Psychologist 2:
- Contributes to the implementation of the MHPSS component of the multidisciplinary response to the needs of the families of missing within the Accompaniment Program (AP).
- Plans and organizes activities adapted to the needs of the families of missing persons according to the guidelines established by the MHPSS team.
- Conducts pre and post assessments of beneficiaries (during home visits and after group sessions) according to the designated ICRC tools and supports the general evaluation process of activities.
- Provides direct support to families of missing persons through support group sessions and, only if needed and relevant, delivers individual counselling sessions, during or outside the scope of home visits.
- Ensures proper collection and entry of data gathered from the field.
- When relevant, organizes awareness raising sessions on the needs of the families of missing persons, targeting local or international organizations as well as governmental bodies.
- Conducts external referrals of specific cases (collected through the activities implemented within the AP), in line with the internal criteria and identifies service providers whenever relevant.
- Contributes to the organization of special events/activities/conferences and trainings for various audiences.
- With the other members of the team, participates in the organization and provision of trainings of accompaniers on numerous topics, - such as listening and communication skills, group facilitation, planning of activities etc., - and ensures regular coaching, mentoring and technical support to the accompaniers in the implementation of the program in the assigned regions.
- Makes written reporting on the activities and contributes to the institutional Monitoring and Evaluation tools (i.e., MAD, MfR, etc.).
- Develops and maintains contact with partners and interlocutors: authorities at municipal/regional level, local/regional Red Crescent branches, population, clusters/working groups etc.
- Contributes to the design of new aspects of the AP.
- Provides the technical support to other departments, when necessary.
- Creates and maintains direct links with the MHPSS programs’ beneficiaries.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Master’s degree in clinical psychology with a license to practice in Jordan.
- At least five years of professional experience with minimum three years of work experience in MHPSS programs in Jordan that includes working with vulnerable groups.
- Excellent knowledge of Arabic and English languages, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Web browsers etc...).
- Humanitarian agency experience with families of missing persons is an asset.
- Good knowledge and experience in group facilitation techniques.
- Good knowledge about evaluation methods.
- Clinical experience is an asset.
- Training skills is an asset.
- Good knowledge of the social, cultural, political, security environment in the country and regional context.
- Good reporting, active listening, communication and soft skills.
- Good analytical skills and attention to details.
- Red Cross/Red Crescent experience is an asset.
