The Building Water Infrastructure (BWI) project is a five-year Consulting services program funded by the U.S Department of States funded to provide engineering services in Jiordan’s water sector, including planning, design and construction supervision of water and wastewater infrastructure.
Job Summary: The CDM Smith International Development Group is seeking a senior-level Architectural/Engineering Drafter to support the design of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects including the design of critical water pipelines, reservoirs, pump stations, and wastewater treatment plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and design:
- Create detailed technical drawings and plans for water and wastewater infrastructure projects using CAD software
- Perform quantity take offs and dimensional calculations to support project accuracy and cost estimation.
- Identify potential constructability or operational issues during design to improve functionality
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop precise and coordinated design deliverables.
- Review design drawings prepared by subcontractors to ensure compliance with project requirements and CDM Smith quality standards.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and CDM Smith Quality standards.
- Develop 3D models in CAD for project facilities, including reservoirs, pump stations, and treatment plants).
- Identify and resolve clashes in water/wastewater infrastructure using BIM software
Project Support and Documentation
- Provide drafting and GIS support throughout the planning, design and execution of water and wastewater projects.
- Provide technical input and expertise in drafting and GIS to support project teams.
- Conduct field surveys and data collection activities to gather information for design and planning as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all drafting and GIS work and ensure compliance with CDM Smith documentation and quality control standards.
- Collaborate effectively with senior CDM Smith project staff, engineers, international subject matter experts, subcontractors, drafters, and technicians, to deliver high-quality, timely, and cost effective project delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil, Architecture, engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in design drafting of water/wastewater infrastructure including pipelines reservoirs, pump stations and treatment plants.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D)
- Experience and/or familiarity in Intelligent Modeling/CADD environment is a plus
- Prior working experience in Jordan
- Strong communication skills and teamwork spirit with ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative work environment.
- High level of flexibility and adaptability to evolving project requirements and priorities
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Solid mathematical skills with the ability to perform dimensional, scaling, and quantity calculations.
- Proficiency in both Arabic and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
