The Cash for Work Assistant has the responsibility to adhere and commit to the PSEAH Policy (Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment) always. The Cash for Work Assistant is responsible for ensuring that measures to prevent SEAH are implemented and regularly monitored. The Cash for Work Assistant should promote an environment to help prevent sexual harassment, exploitation, and abuse both at the office and in the field and report any misconduct or SEAH issues appropriately according to ACTED’s procedures.


Background on the Project :

ACTED is implementing the project “Watershed conservation and empowering communities: cash -for-work approach in King Talal Dam watershed and Za’atari camp” as an implementation partner with GIZ, noting that the project is funded by the BMZ. The project aims to reduce soil erosion in the King Talal Dam’s watershed areas using nature-based solutions and support the maintenance and rehabilitation of storm water systems in Zaatari Refugee Camp, while improving living conditions for Jordanians and Syrians through cash-for-work schemes and Contractors in parallel. ACTED will involve 840 beneficiaries in labour-intensive work to provide them with temporary income and alleviate immediate financial pressure on one hand, and to improve the living conditions in the camps and refugee-hosting communities on the other hand.


Location: North of Jordan


Job Purpose:

The Cash for Work Assistant is responsible for supporting the Project Officers in executing and monitoring CfW activities on-site. S/he will be actively involved in attendance tracking, document collection, database support, and direct communication with CfW/IBV participants. In addition, the Cash for Work Assistant is expected to support the project engineers in some technical tasks.  This role ensures the smooth day-to-day operations of field activities, maintains records, and helps the CfW Officer in ensuring compliance with ACTED’s internal procedures.


Objectives:

The Cash for Work Assistant responsibilities include:

  1. Support data and attendance management for CfW workers
  2. Assist with the documentation and filing of project forms and records
  3. Maintain daily field-level communication with CfW teams
  4. Contribute to timely and accurate reporting to the CfW Officer and Project Manager

Support the technical team (Engineers) in monitoring and supervising the CFW/IBV activities


Duties and Responsibilities:

The Cash for Work Assistant responsibilities include:

Data Entry & Attendance Management

  • Collect and verify CfW workers’ daily attendance sheets
  • Enter attendance data into Excel or designated templates under CfW Officer supervision
  • Support in cross-checking and correcting any data discrepancies
  • Assist in updating worker records, drop-out tracking, and onboarding documentation

Administrative & Field Support

  • Distribute and collect necessary forms (e.g., contracts, evaluations, surveys)
  • Support in preparing CfW salary and attendance packages for submission
  • File all hard and soft documents in an organized and secure manner
  • Assist in organizing CfW meetings, safety briefings, PPE distribution, transportation, work location planning and training sessions
  • Assist in supervising and monitoring the field activities
  • Support in work permit renewal process

Community & Worker Coordination

  • Act as a daily point of contact for CfW workers in the field
  • Provide basic guidance and clarification to CfW workers under the direction of the CfW Officer
  • Attend community or site meetings as needed
  • Relay issues or concerns from the field to the CfW Officer

Reporting

  • Support the CfW Officer in preparing weekly and monthly summaries
  • Submit daily attendance tracking sheets
  • Contribute to post-employment surveys and beneficiary feedback collection




Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, MIS, business administration, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in a field support, community mobilization, or administrative role (NGO experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • CFW/IBV project experience is preferred
  • Camp experience is preferred
  • WASH experience is asset
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal communication with diverse communities
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team

Fluent Arabic required, basic English preferred
