Registered Nurse Full Time contract

Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman, which opened in 2006, is giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic, and maxillo-facial) to war-wounded people providing comprehensive health care, MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.

Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery program in Amman is seeking a (2) Registered Nurses for a Full-Time contract.

Dimension of post

Reconstructive Surgery Hospital with an average 520 admissions per year, over 1000 surgeries annually, 50 surgical beds and 69 rehabilitation beds, 2 OTs for orthopedic, maxillo-facial and plastic reconstructive surgeries, OPD with an average 550 consultations / month, physiotherapy and psychosocial department, and Antimicrobial Resistance activity (Stewardship, IPC and Micro laboratory) within the hospital

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to all patients in the Ward and OPD
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including medical, surgical, physiotherapy, psychosocial, and occupational therapy staff; Supervise and guide Nurses’ Aides, Practical Nurses and Caretakers in coordination with the Nursing Supervisor
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with Practical Nurses (PNs) and Care takers.
  • Monitor patient conditions, including vital signs, pain levels, intake/output, and overall clinical status and document correctly in the patient EMR.
  • Perform and oversee clinical procedures such as:
  • IV therapy (peripheral and PICC lines)
  • Blood transfusions
  • Supporting and assisting for invasive procedures
  • Blood glucose and hemoglobin (Hemocue) testing
  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • Specimen collection, handling, storage, and transportation
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care in accordance with established protocols; Support surgical patient flow from admission through preparation, operation, and recovery and Ensure readiness of patients and equipment for procedures
  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control policies and procedures; Maintain hygiene standards for patients and their environment and Ensure proper use and disposal of medical supplies and waste
  • Administer medications safely in accordance with prescriptions and pharmacy protocols; Monitor medication effects and report adverse reactions; Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing and consumption
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records (electronic or paper-based systems); Use approved documentation tools and EMR systems effectively; Report patient status, incidents, and clinical concerns promptly to supervisors and physicians

PROFILE

  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing
  • Desirable 2 years of previous Nursing experience especially in Surgical (OT) and ER is an asset
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting
  • Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGOs
  • Fluent in English and Arabic

WORK LOCATION:          Amman, at Al Mowasah hospital

 CONTRACT:                       6 months on 100% contract, renewable, with 3 months’ trial period in the first contract

 START DATE:                     May 2026
