Biomedical Technician Full Time contract

Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman, which opened in 2006, is giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic, and maxillo-facial) to war-wounded people providing comprehensive health care, MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.
Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery program in Amman is seeking a (1) Biomedical Technician for a Full-Time contract.
Dimension of post
Reconstructive Surgery Hospital with an average 520 admissions per year, over 1000 surgeries annually, 50 surgical beds and 69 rehabilitation beds, 2 OTs for orthopedic, maxillo-facial and plastic reconstructive surgeries, OPD with an average 550 consultations / month, physiotherapy and psychosocial department, and Antimicrobial Resistance activity (Stewardship, IPC and Micro laboratory) within the hospital
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the availability, safety, and proper functioning of biomedical equipment in the project/mission by carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance, supporting users on proper operation and first-line care as per MSF standards and procedures, maintaining accurate maintenance records, and promptly escalating complex technical issues to the Supervisor
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performing and carrying out, all necessary complex / advanced installation, maintenance and repair of MSF biomedical equipment and ensuring that as few items are out of service at any given time
- Organizing and participating in the installation of biomedical equipment
- Support equipment inventory updates and help identify inactive, damaged, or replacement-needing equipment. Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage
- Following the schedule and carrying out preventive and curative maintenance works for the equipment according to the MSF and/or manufacturer's protocols, manuals, and recommendations and ensuring that cleaning and simple maintenance are properly carried out by medical staff
- Reporting any issues or problems on biomed equipment to his/her supervisor and proposing solutions (training of staff on a device, operating procedures, etc.). If maintenance work requires further assistance, documentation or additional tools, this shall be requested from and provided by his/her supervisor.
- Participating in organizing user training covering correct operation, daily checks, cleaning, and basic care of equipment, and contribute to refresher training when needed
- Responsible for the equipment and tools (including extinguishers), checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
- Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to maintenance are always completed (including date of intervention, replaced parts, problems and solutions) and preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance
PROFILE
- Diploma in Biomedical Equipment Technology / Diploma in electronics
- Alternatively, Diploma in electromechanics, electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field with proven relevant experience in medical equipment maintenance
- Experience in a technical field (Minimum 2 years' experience), preferably in hospital biomedical maintenance. Demonstrated experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of medical devices is strongly preferred. Good understanding of the operating principles and basic troubleshooting of common biomedical equipment used in hospitals
- Fluent in Arabic essential; Basic Technical English desirable for reading manuals, and service documentation.
- Pedagogical skills are an asset

WORK LOCATION: Amman, at Al Mowasah hospital
CONTRACT: 6 months on 100% contract, renewable, with 3 months’ trial period in the first contract
START DATE: June 2026
