The GIZ-implemented Civil Peace Service project “Promotion of conflict resolution mechanisms and creation of perspectives for vulnerable groups and disadvantaged regions in Jordan” is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join its team in Jordan.

This internship offers hands-on experience in a dynamic environment that uses creative methods to strengthen civil society organisations in Jordan, enhancing skills, approaches, and opportunities for marginalized youth and communities.

About the Project

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme, implemented by GIZ in Jordan, contributes to strengthening social cohesion and fostering peaceful coexistence. Working in close partnership with local civil society organisations, community-based initiatives, and relevant public actors, the programme promotes inclusive participation and supports marginalized groups – particularly youth – in developing non-violent approaches to address conflicts and shape their communities. Through dialogue-based, creative, and participatory methods, CPS enhances capacities for conflict transformation, strengthens local networks, and creates safe spaces for exchange and collaboration. By linking community-level engagement with broader policy processes, the programme contributes to sustainable peacebuilding and resilience across Jordan, with a focus on underserved and vulnerable communities.

Your Role as an Intern

This internship has a strong communication focus. The intern will support the project team in digital communication and media training, contributing to the planning and implementation of activities related to media skills, practical content production, and creative methods (such as writing, music, videography, and photography). The role places particular emphasis on building capacities in participatory ways within the civil society organisations and the communities we serve. A strong passion for storytelling is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting technical advisors in preparing, implementing, and monitoring activities
  • Contributing creative ideas and supporting the development and implementation of communication campaigns
  • Assisting in event coordination and logistical preparation
  • Supporting the project management in administrative tasks
  • Drafting and editing reports, presentations, and communication materials
  • Supporting documentation and meeting notetaking
  • Supporting data collection, analysis, and record keeping
  • Translating documents (Arabic ↔ English)

Who We Are Looking For

  • Fresh graduate in a relevant field (Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related disciplines)
  • Fluent in English and Arabic with English being the working language (German is an asset)
  • Basic understanding of communication, civil society engagement, or youth work
  • Brings at least one storytelling skill (e.g. videography, writing, or photography)
  • Strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders across Jordan’s social contexts
  • Willingness to travel regularly outside of Amman
