Islamic Relief Jordan
Islamic Relief Jordan is a country branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief Worldwide is an internationally recognized charity, looking back on nearly 40 years of experience in humanitarian and developmental aid. It was founded in 1984 in Birmingham, UK, in response to the devastating famine in the Horn of Africa. Since then, Islamic Relief has grown into a charity that is active worldwide, putting development projects, emergency aid, and rebuilding projects into action in over 28 countries around the world.
Islamic Relief Jordan (IRJ) began its operations in 1997 with orphan’s sponsorship, sponsoring hundreds of orphans living in Jordan. IRJ extended its programs to seasonal projects with Ramadan and Qurbani distributions and In-Kind donations. IRJ has established strong partnership with international non-governmental organization and local one’s strengthening the overall response to the Syria crisis. At the onset of Syria humanitarian crisis in late 2011, IRJ provided emergency response to those affected by violence in Syria and has since then scaled up its capacity and operations with number of 70 staff across the country.
The health department has successfully introduced interventions in multi-component projects providing primary, secondary and tertiary health care services. The department also provides medical assistive equipment, health awareness sessions, and dialysis support

Job Purpose:
Under the overall guidance of the Health Programme Coordinator, the Male/Female pharmacist is responsible for the overall implementation of basic pharmacist duties by providing medications and needed education for rightsholders. This advert is open for a pharmacist in the Mobile Clinic (MC) team in Al-Mafraq. Residents of Al-Mafraq are highly encouraged to apply for the post.
Key Responsibilities
The pharmacist will be specifically responsible for performing the following activities in close collaboration with the medical doctors and other clinic staff, providing professional care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Duties include:
- Responsible for medication management, pharmacy, inventory, and prescriptions.
- Prepare medication purchase request to supply IRJ with medications from the supplier and receive medication purchases from the supplier
- Maintain main store and perform monthly inventory checks
- Prepare medications for use in the clinic by requesting medications from the main store
- Review and interpret physician orders; detect therapeutic incompatibility and review doses.
- Dispense medications and provide proper patient education to patients in written and verbal format
- Maintain the patient prescription and medication batches and ensure the proper identification papers and other pertinent information are attached to them by the end of the day
- Aid physicians as required during treatment and examination.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Conduct weekly checks on supply materials in the clinics and prepare their restocking from the main store to the clinic
- Ability to provide reports on cases, medications, and analysis.
- Make sure that all rightsholders are aware of the donor and the health assistance policies.
- Continuously update the work plan with the officers and doctors according to locations, medication stocks, and procurement issues
- Work with the team for rightsholders feedback analysis and surveys.
- Provide health awareness sessions as needed for the rightsholders and staff as needed and requested.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, interim, and final project reports
- Contribute to any research, knowledge sharing and generation function
- Performing other related duties as may be assigned by IRJ programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- University degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience
- NGO’s sector experience is preferable
- Valid MoH pharmacy practice license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
- Excellent management for storage, medical warehousing, and medical orders.
- Ability to follow up with patients and ensure receiving good quality service.

- Good understanding of humanitarian issues, with experience of/or ability to work directly with NGOs, CBO’s and communities.
- Reliable medical knowledge and medications experience.
- Positive and energetic attitude with a "can do" mentality and willingness to perform highly demanding as well as menial tasks with equal zeal and enthusiasm.
Core humanitarian competencies:
- Understanding of humanitarian contexts and principles.
- Understanding of Islamic relief values and principles.
- Knowledge of Jordan key aspects in terms of its political, economic and social trends plus a good understanding of the key development and humanitarian issues in the region.
- Sympathy with the aims and objectives of the organization and commitment to humanitarian principles and INGO's code of conduct.
- Demonstrated experience of integrated gender and diversity into humanitarian response programs.
