Job Title: Pharmacist FSR #796
Location: Azraq Camp
JOB SUMMARY:
The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and rational use of medications within the PHC program at Azraq Refugee Camp. The role includes medication dispensing, prescription review, stock management, pharmacy reporting, and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical standards, organizational protocols, and quality of care requirements.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES:
- Dispense medications accurately according to physicians’ prescriptions and organizational protocols.
- Provide patients with clear verbal and written instructions regarding medication dosage, administration, duration, storage, and possible side effects.
- Assess patients’ medication needs and promote the rational and safe use of medicines.
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, drug interactions, contraindications, and age/weight-based dosing, and communicate any concerns or discrepancies with the prescribing physician.
- Organize and maintain the pharmacy according to pharmaceutical standards, ensuring proper storage, labeling, cleanliness, and stock arrangement of medications and medical supplies.
- Ensure all medications are appropriately labeled and arranged by category, dosage form, strength, and expiry date using updated stock/bin cards.
- Monitor stock levels and support regular inventory activities, including monthly physical stock counts and reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Monitor and report near-expiry, expired, damaged, or missing medications according to organizational procedures.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for medications, including temperature monitoring and compliance with pharmacy and infection prevention standards.
- Prepare and submit weekly consumption reports and other pharmacy-related reports to the pharmacy supervisor as required.
- Report organizational, logistical, administrative, or operational issues affecting pharmacy services, including equipment and supply needs.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, warehouse staff, and other healthcare workers to support integrated and quality patient care.
- Participate in trainings, supervision activities, and continuous professional development as requested.
- Ensure compliance with organizational SOPs, pharmacy regulations, patient confidentiality, and quality standards.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor in line with operational needs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
- Minimum 2 years’ experience post graduate experience as a pharmacist in outpatient/ inpatient pharmacy or retail pharmacy setting.
- Clinical experience working in remote setting is an advantage
- NGO experience is a plus
