The GIZ Jordan Project"FURSATI – Empowering Women for Technical and Green Crafts Professions and in Career Development” is seeking to hire a “TVET & Private Sector Advisor - Aqaba” for full-time based employment.
FURSATI – “Empowering Women for Technical and Green Crafts Professions and in Career Development” is a BMZ-funded GIZ project in Jordan’s TVET portfolio, running from 05/2026 to 04/2030. The project aims to improve employment perspectives in Jordan, especially for young women, in green, technical and creative sectors. It follows a gender-transformative approach, with gender equality and women’s empowerment as its principal objective.
FURSATI works at system, school, community and labour-market level. It supports gender-responsive TVET reform, practice-oriented BTEC education, social norm change around women’s employment, and women’s transition into work.
Output 1 strengthens the Ministry of Education’s capacities to implement TVET reform in a gender-transformative and labour market-oriented way, including policy advice, capacity development, career orientation and private sector engagement.
Output 2 supports selected BTEC girls’ schools in improving practical and gender-responsive training in green, technical and creative fields, with a focus on work-based learning and cooperation with companies.
Output 3 addresses social norms limiting women’s participation in these sectors through evidence-based campaigns, community dialogue, Sport for Development approaches, and exchange with women’s and business associations.
Output 4 strengthens labour market-oriented qualification offers and women’s transition into employment through labour market analysis, training development, mentoring, career guidance, job fairs, internships and cooperation with relevant associations.
Qualifications and Specialist Knowledge
- At least 8 years of professional experience in Aqaba and southern Jordan in programme implementation, entrepreneurship, employment promotion, private sector development and youth economic empowerment.
- Strong knowledge of the Aqaba context, including regional stakeholder networks, local governance structures, private sector actors, entrepreneurship ecosystems and socio-economic dynamics in southern Jordan.
- Proven experience in coordinating regional initiatives with government entities, private sector actors, incubators, community-based organisations and local implementation partners.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, coordinating and following up on entrepreneurship, employment and skills-development activities, including outreach to youth, women and local communities.
- Strong experience in private sector partnership development, labour-market linkages, internship placement, startup support and facilitation of employment-oriented opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex local implementation processes, organise events and workshops, coordinate multiple stakeholders and ensure timely follow-up at regional level.
- Experience in development cooperation and donor-funded programmes, including GIZ and EU-funded projects, monitoring, reporting and coordination with international partners.
- Language skills: Arabic native; English fluent.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee project implementation in Aqaba and southern Jordan, ensuring coherence across activities, partners, timelines and expected results.
- Lead the regional implementation of employment-oriented training measures, including preparation, partner coordination and follow-up with training providers.
- Coordinate awareness-raising, outreach and campaign activities in Aqaba, particularly on women’s participation in technical, green and employment-oriented sectors.
- Provide technical and operational guidance to Band 2 staff in Aqaba, ensuring task clarity, implementation quality and timely escalation of Problems to the Project Manager.
- Maintain and strengthen cooperation with regional partners, including ASEZA, local government, training institutions, private sector actors and community organisations.
- Ensure monitoring, documentation and reporting of Aqaba-based activities, including data collection, partner feedback and lessons learned.
- Adapt project approaches to the Aqaba context, ensuring they are realistic, locally anchored, gender-responsive and labour market-oriented.
- Support quality assurance of project outputs in Aqaba by reviewing progress, identifying bottlenecks and contributing to practical solutions.
