The intern will assist with day-to-day accounts payable activities, invoice processing, payment documentation, vendor support, and finance administration while gaining hands-on exposure to accounting operations within a global organization. This role will report to the Accounts Payable Lead in Amman and will work closely with finance colleagues supporting APCO's North America offices. <p >This internship offers hands-on experience in a dynamic environment that uses creative methods to strengthen civil society organisations in Jordan, enhancing skills, approaches, and opportunities for marginalized youth and communities.</p>
<p><strong>About the project?</strong></p>
<p>Under the Framework Agreement between the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of</p>
<p>the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Employment in Jordan 2030 Project (EJ2030) is implemented by the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH” in close cooperation with its political partner the Ministry of Labour (MoL) and other national partners.</p>
<p>In cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, the project aims to strengthen Jordan’s employment system through three interlinked areas of intervention. First, it supports evidence-based labour market policies by developing a comprehensive policy cycle, establishing a Labour Market Information System (LMIS), and assessing the impact of existing employment measures and systems. Second, it promotes safer and more productive work environments by enhancing the institutional capacities of the Central Inspection Directorate and field inspection units, developing the technical, advisory, and digital competencies of labour inspectors and occupational safety and health (OSH) personnel, and designing business development services (BDS) to improve working conditions in enterprises. Third, the project enhances target group-specific labour market services by improving the Ministry’s digital job portal <em>SAJJIL</em>, strengthening the institutional and technical capacities of eight public employment offices and the Central Employment Directorate, designing and implementing tailored employment measures through private service providers.</p>
<p><strong>Main Responsibilities:</strong></p>

<li>Support the implementation of activities related to policy development, target-oriented labour market services, business development services, capacity development of partners, and other project initiatives, including research, studies, and both online and in-person events.</li>
<li>Provide technical, logistical, and administrative support in the preparation of workshops, events, and meetings with partners</li>
<li>Support in the preparation and design of various material incl. reports, texts and publications in English.</li>
<li>Assist in collecting and analysing data related to labour market trends, employment programmes, and policy documents.</li>

<li>Basic understanding of Jordan’s labour market structure and challenges (youth employment, gender gaps, inclusion of persons with disabilities, etc.).</li>

<p>The regional programme "Digital Trade and E-Commerce in the MENA Region" is co-funded by the European Union (DG MENA) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ and the International Trade Centre (ITC). It aims to develop e-commerce and digital trade in the South Mediterranean region to enhance business opportunities and foster decent job creation, in cooperation with the public and the private sectors. The programme covers eight countries — Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia, with national implementation activities in <strong>Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia.</strong></p>
<p><strong><u>Qualifications and specialist knowledge</u></strong></p>

<li>Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Law, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in a similar field is preferred.</li>
<li>Sound know-how of international trade policies, agreements and rules governing e-commerce and digital trade. In-depth knowledge of the framework conditions in Jordan shaping the country’s digital trade readiness.</li>
<li>At least 5 years of experience in economic cooperation and private sector development projects.</li>
<li>Implementation experience minimum of 3 years of activities in digital trade and e-commerce: strategies and regulatory approaches for e-commerce; technical tools and solutions enabling e-commerce and digital trade (e-signature, e-payments, e-commerce platforms and others).</li>
<li>Analytical skills and structured working style. Moreover, a solution- and results-oriented work approach.</li>
<li>Willingness to travel occasionally on missions to other countries in the region and to Germany.</li>

<h4>Role Overview</h4>
<p>During your tenure as an experienced associate in audit & assurance (JRC), you will demonstrate and develop your capabilities in the following areas:</p>
<ul>
<li>Builds trust and credibility with stakeholders by seeking to understand their service level expectations and what matters to them individually.</li>
<li>Delivers high quality services by demonstrating a practical awareness of the impact of regulation and risk management on business processes and controls.</li>
<li>Takes responsibility for understanding key statistics and industry matters about the entity before engagement begins.</li>
<li>Adapts template referral instructions to clearly outline the scope of procedures to be performed, including the areas of audit focus. Understands the structure of the group audit and for whom the referral instructions are intended.</li>
<li>Liaises effectively with onshore and offshore centres of excellence in the delivery of relevant tasks, understanding the scope of work delegated to them and the importance of providing accurate and complete information.</li>
<li>Assists in tracking deliverables from component auditors and seeks to understand the relevance and importance of these.</li>
<li>Appropriately links risks, controls, procedures, and findings from allocated sections across the EMS file on a timely basis.</li>
<li>Can articulate the audit quality milestones, the ways in which teams demonstrate completeness of milestones, and how the audit quality milestones contribute to audit quality.</li>
<li>Understands the rationale behind the timings of the audit plan and is prepared to offer challenge around whether work can be performed earlier in the audit cycle.</li>
<li>Prepares documentation by anticipating questions that reviewers may ask and distinguishes accounting judgements and conclusions from auditing judgements and conclusions.</li>
<li>Understands that it is important to develop relationships beyond the finance function in order to better understand the entity's business and apply professional scepticism.</li>
<li>Has a practical awareness of the risks around the engagement lifecycle and regulatory environment, and relevant practice protection policies.</li>

<h4>Qualifications</h4>
<ul>
<li>Degree in accounting or related field. Graduate degree is desired.</li>
<li>3+ years of experience in public auditing and accounting, preferably with Big Audit Firms.</li>
<li>Supervise staff, inspect client financial records, compile and analyze data, prepare detailed audit reports, and resolve accounting research issues.</li>
<li>Demonstrate ability to plan and manage engagements and people along with ensuring deliverables meet work plan specifications and deadlines.</li>
<li>International accounting qualification is desired: CA, ACCA, or CPA. Preferably CA.</li>
<li>Fluent in English (reading, speaking, and writing). Preference will be given to bilingual candidates (Arabic/English).</li>

<p>Amman, Jordan – working on Oman market.<br>
Can travel to Oman when needed.</p></p><p></p>
