<p><strong>Job role - Principal engineer – mechanical – aviation buildings</strong><br>
Verbal and written communication in English is mandatory.</p>
<h4>Responsibilities:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Lead mechanical/HVAC design from feasibility and basis-of-design (BoD) through detailed design, tender and construction support for aviation facilities.</li>
<li>Own the environmental strategy for very large volumes (e.g., hangar bays): heating/cooling concepts, destratification, purge/exhaust modes, make-up air, and controls sequences—balancing energy, IAQ and safety (UFC/ASHRAE/NFPA context).</li>
<li>Engineer specialist ventilation for hazardous operations: paint spray booths/rooms, fuel-cell maintenance/purge ventilation, welding/fume extraction, VOC control, and hazardous-area interfaces with electrical/controls.</li>
<li>Integrate process utilities common to MRO and workshops.</li>
<li>Shape catering facility HVAC and hygienic air zones: kitchen exhaust and makeup air (NFPA 96), pressure cascades, temperature/humidity control for clean prep/packing.</li>
<li>Deliver BIM-led coordination (Revit/Navisworks) across architecture, structures, process, fire protection, and controls; lead clash resolution and model QA.</li>
<li>Run calculations and simulations: loads, duct/pipe sizing, ventilation rates, smoke/fume capture, and (where needed) CFD to support the thermal comfort studies.</li>
<li>Author technical documents: BoD, design reports, specifications, sequences of operation, control narratives, FAT/SAT/commissioning plans.</li>
<li>Engage stakeholders—airlines/MROs, airport operators, food safety teams, and authorities—to secure approvals and smooth delivery.</li>
<li>Lead retrofit, refurbishment, and brownfield upgrade projects within operational airport environments—assessing existing systems, developing phased upgrade strategies, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations, and integrating new systems with legacy infrastructure while addressing capacity, compliance, and energy performance improvements.</li>

<h4>Key systems and domains you’ll cover:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Hangars and workshops: general and emergency exhaust, purge ventilation for fuel system work, floor-level capture where required, destratification/ HVLS fans, door air management, radiant/air systems, PCA (pre-conditioned air) and GSE interfaces.</li>
<li>Catering facilities: high-duty kitchen exhaust and makeup air (hoods, MAUs, heat recovery), grease ducting, rooftop terminations, pressure zoning for hygiene, and interfaces to cold rooms/freezers and clean areas.</li>
<li>Experience in refurbishment projects, passenger terminal building mechanical design (HVAC, drainage systems) is preferred.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Qualifications:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.</li>
<li>Professional registration (e.g., CEng/PE) strongly preferred.</li>
<li>15+ years’ experience in building services (mechanical/HVAC), with significant aviation project delivery (passenger terminal building, hangars, MRO shops, flight catering, or similar).</li>
<li>Proven leadership as lead/principal engineer on multi-disciplinary design projects and prior delivery in live airport environments (airside/landside interfaces, works phasing) is preferred.</li>
<li>Expertise writing BoDs, specifications, P&IDs, control sequences, etc.</li>
<li>BIM fluency: Revit, Navisworks; competence with calculations (e.g., IES-VE/HAP/eQuest), CFD exposure preferred.</li>
<li>Client-facing communication and team leadership; mentoring and QA/QC across multiple concurrent packages.</li>
<li>Strong communication skills for effective client presentations, stakeholder workshops, and cross-functional coordination.</li>
<li>Willingness to be based at Dammam Airport for the initial phase of the project (short-term assignment) and relocate to the main office upon project completion.</li>

<section><p class="heading jdMain">Job Description</p><p class="heading">Roles & Responsibilities</p><div class="paragraph"><p>The Analyst is based in the EBRD s resident office in Amman, Jordan and is dedicated to working in the sustainable infrastructure sector in the EBRD s (SI MEA) team, which delivers the Bank s mandate in the energy and infrastructure sectors in Jordan, as well as other countries in the region. This position is focused on infrastructure whereby the team is responsible for debt and equity investments in the public and private sector in the transport and municipal infrastructure including water, public transport, and waste subsectors. The Analyst contributes to all phases of the project cycle, including project origination, structuring, execution, implementation and monitoring. The Analyst will take responsibility for the tasks assigned to them by the operation leader, the Regional Head for Infrastructure or more senior members of the project team, or more senior bankers, which may include undertaking comprehensive due diligence, including financial, market, integrity and EBRD policy compliance, as well as effective post-signing implementation and monitoring. In addition, tasks may be assigned by the Director, Regional Head Eastern Mediterranean related to sectoral needs. The Analyst carries out these tasks as part of a project team under the guidance of the operation leader or under the supervision/guidance of the Regional Heads or more senior bankers. The Analyst role may also include elements of business/pipeline development, client management and policy dialogue. In particular the Analyst will be actively involved in the following tasks: </p><p>• Supporting the implementation and monitoring of existing projects in Jordan including the infrastructure public sector portfolio; </p><p>• Maintain the relationship with clients and key stakeholders in the sector in Jordan, including the authorities, private operators, and other international organisations; </p><p>• Coordinate technical cooperation assignments with the authorities; and Contribute to coordinating due diligence visits, financial modelling and drafting or approval documents for new projects. </p><p>Accountabilities & Responsiblities </p><p>Under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker: </p><p>Structuring and Execution </p><p>• Work as a project team member on transactions, contributing to all aspects of project structuring and execution, including comprehensive research and analysis of background materials, market information and financial performance data; analyse and evaluate potential risks related to the proposed project, including analysis of financial statements, preparing and updating financial models and financial projections; </p><p>• Assist with the designing and processing of technical co-operation assistance, including preparation of terms of reference and internal approval documentation, to support the related investment project or the related policy dialogue initiative; </p><p>• As may be requested, assist with communication with other internal units of the Bank, clients and other stakeholders, at the operational level, such as preparing draft correspondence, presentations, and following up on internal emails; </p><p>• Ensure that all tasks assigned to the Analyst are completed within the specified time frames to a high quality and in line with the policies, procedures and objectives of the Bank. </p><p>Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation and Reporting </p><p>• As requested by the operation leader or a Portfolio Manager, undertake assigned tasks relating to the implementation and monitoring of projects to which the Analyst is assigned as part of the project team, including compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures related to disbursement, monitoring of progress of the project and financial performance of the client, assessing evolving risk factors and monitoring and assessing covenant compliance; </p><p>• As requested by the operation leader or more senior member of the project team, prepare timely and comprehensive draft monitoring reports and include recommendations for corrective actions where required and ensure these corrective actions and recommendations are brought to the attention of more senior team members; </p><p>• As may be requested by, and under the supervision of, a TC operation leader, assist with the effective implementation and monitoring of TC assignments including communication with TC client, monitoring of TC fund usage, preparation and filing of relevant TC progress and completion reports to support the TC operation leader to meet donor reporting requirements and operational objectives. </p><p>The responsibilities of the Analyst are designed to allow the Analyst to progressively undertake more complex tasks and build the scope of responsibilities based on acquired experience and expertise. </p></div></section><section><p class="heading">Desired Candidate Profile</p><p class="paragraph"></p><ul><li>Bachelor s degree. Master s degree preferred or equivalent experience in the areas of expertise.</li><li>Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA desirable.</li><li>Quantitative/numerical skills are critical with the ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.</li><li>Credit analysis skills, with the ability to interpret accounts, understanding local and international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis.</li><li>Computer literacy, conversant with Microsoft Office and spread sheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.</li><li>Good understanding of relevant systems and processes.</li><li>Ability to work effectively as a team member and to deadlines and under time pressure.</li><li>Good written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic.</li><li>Experience working in Jordan preferred.</li><li>Relevant financial industry experience from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm operating to international standards.</li><li>Good understanding of infrastructure and the energy sectors in the region.</li><li>Experience in project finance and / or climate finance is an advantage.</li></ul><p></p></section>
