The Global Compact Network Jordan (GCNJ) Is a non-governmental organization that was launched in February 2007 by the UNDP and the Ministry of Planning together with representatives from the private sector with the aim to increase the role of the private sector and civil society organizations in collectively addressing issues related to Corporate Social Responsibility, and to promote responsible business practices, stimulate multi-stakeholder dialogue and partnerships, and provides knowledge, tools and mutual learning to business to engage in Corporate Social Responsibility . The Global Compact Local Network in Jordan is the official representative for the New York-based United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). The GCNJ works closely with the UNGC to advance the implementation of the UNGC Ten Principles and the UN SDGs. As part of the UNGC’s 65+ local networks around the world we leverage knowledge and tools from each other and the UNGC, and help companies understand what responsible business means within different national, cultural and language contexts. The Global Compact Network Jordan works to popularize the UN Global Compact principles and to promote corporate social responsibility and active citizenship amongst Jordanian companies, organizations, and academia. It endeavors to build public trust, and eventually, momentum for action via an open, informal, and fruitful model of partnership and cooperation. The Global Compact Network Jordan targets the private sector including corporates, small and medium organization, civil society, business associations and public sector, in addition to the relevant local and global networks, organizations and academia.
