CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people as well as women.

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Protection Projects Manager, The Project Manager will lead the implementation of the Sustainable Safe Pathways for Working Children in Jordan, aimed at addressing the root causes of child labor in Jordan. This includes problem and needs analysis, coordination with national and sub-national institutions, capacity building, and facilitating income generation for affected families. The Project Manager will work closely with government bodies, NGOs, community-based organizations, and international partners to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to eliminating child labor.

The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize the project according to strict deadline and within budget.  This  includes  acquiring  recourses  and  coordinating  the  efforts  of  team  members  in  order  to  deliver project according to the plan. S/he will advise  project staff concerning relevant issues associated with the progress of the project in order to facilitate any necessary changes in programming in order to meet targets in the timeframe pro jects as best as possible.

 

The Project Manager technical experties and knowledge required in developing SOPs, Training Guideline, Providing Guidance and Quality Check related to: Child Labor, Natioan System Strenghining, Case Management, Partnership and Soft Skills training.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Protection Projects Manager

Staff directly reporting to this post: Project Officers, LH Project officer

Close Coordination : Child Protection Specialist, Education Specialist.

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Strategic Leadership and Project Management:
 

  • Lead project planning, execution, and evaluation, ensuring alignment with national strategies and goals for child labor elimination.
  • Oversee project budget, timeline, and resource allocation, ensuring efficient use of funds and adherence to donor requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Development:

  • Foster partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, community-based organizations (CBOs), and international partners to ensure coordinated efforts against child labor.
  • Engage in policy dialogue and advocacy to support legal and systemic changes required for effective child labor elimination.

Capacity Building and Technical Support:

  • Strengthen the capabilities of CBOs, local institutions, and national protection entities through training and technical assistance.
  • Develop and implement capacity-building programs focused on tailored prevention and response services for children affected by or at risk of child labor.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Ensure appropriate coordination with Program Development and Quality/MEAL teams for
  • Timely data collection for the purposes of MEAL and reporting. 
  • Training of Field staff on relevant technical approaches used in the project. 
  • Feedback on TA/MEAL visit reports. 
  • Ensure tracking of set indicators throughout the implementation cycle and regular reporting on impact, and in coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, assist partners in developing appropriate strategies for monitoring and evaluating implemented activities.
  • Lead on technical assessments in coordination with other thematic areas and/or other external sector agencies, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific analysis of children’s needs.

  • Ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter, the Red Cross Code of Conduct
  • Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of crisis or emergency.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Competencies QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, International Development, Law, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, with a strong preference for experience in child labor, education, or child protection projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the socio-economic factors contributing to child labor in Jordan and the region.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with government entities, NGOs, and community groups.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic..
  • Computer literate (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, financial systems)
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Patient, adaptable, able to improvise, and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure.
