As part of our strategic priority to ‘Strengthen our Systems and Processes’, MAG is in the process of developing our Amman Office as the organization’s Global Hub of excellence for Digital Innovation and Information Management.

This role of IT Officer – Global Support, will be part of a growing team of technology specialists based in Amman that will support MAG’s global operations.

Job Purpose:  

  • Support the development and implementation of MAG’s global IT plan
  • Provide high quality IT support to MAG’s programmes and employees through either direct support or via nominated IT staff in country.
  • Under the leadership of the Global IT Manager based in the UK, contribute towards maintaining, improving and documenting MAG’s global IT processes in line with IT policies.
  • To promote and increase the global adoption of standard processes and ways of working by all MAG staff.

Job Description:

User Admin & Support (as part of the broader IT team)

  • Provide expert technical support to MAG users at HQ and in overseas programmes, through desk-side, remote support, and liaising with in-country IT staff.
  • Manage user-administration tasks in Azure AD and carry out IT induction training for new MAG staff.
  • Maintain up to date records of ticket requests via MAG’s helpdesk system.
  • Maintain MAG's IT asset databases, ensuring hardware and software records are always current.

System Admin & Support (as part of the broader IT team)

  • Administer the global Microsoft cloud platform (including M365 and Azure Active Directory).
  • Administer user accounts in MAG’s cloud platforms and systems.
  • Act as a technical expert resource, providing system support and guidance as needed to MAG’s country programmes.

IT Projects

  • Manage end to end delivery of assigned IT projects, acting as project manager or IT lead - ensuring projects are delivered on time and in budget to the correct quality requirements.
  • Provide system testing and/or first line user-support where projects require new systems and processes through the life cycle of the project.
  • Ensure that all projects and where applicable users adhere to data security standards in line with MAG policies and industry best practice.
  • Support transition of project support into business-as-usual operations on conclusion of a project. Report on all assigned projects, this will include risk escalation and management, as well as status reports and internal communications.

About you:

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years working in IT roles.
  • Experience of managing IT projects from start to finish.
  • Experience providing high quality IT support in a busy environment.
  • Experience in managing all aspects of a Microsoft 365 and/or Azure AD tenancy.
  • Experience configuring, operating and supporting the Office 365 collaboration suite (including Microsoft/Office 365, Teams, OneDrive, Planner, etc) to administrator level.
  • Experience managing security products such as MFA, MDM, firewalls, disk encryption, antivirus platforms, email filters, etc.
  • Experience of training or providing guidance to end users on the use of Teams and other Office 365 products.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Windows Server administration
  • Windows 10/11 administration
  • Microsoft Entra / Azure AD administration
  • Microsoft 365 services (including Exchange, SharePoint & Teams)
  • Good understanding of networking and communications technologies.
  • Good understanding of the current IT security / risk landscape.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Microsoft Certification - other relevant ICT qualifications, training and/or relevant experience will be considered
