Rationale:

The Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) is dedicated to promoting women's advancement in Jordan and has been actively involved in gender mainstreaming and gender sensitivity initiatives. In collaboration with the Jordanian Government and UN Women, the JNCW is developing a National Action Plan (NAP) to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace, and security, along with its subsequent resolutions. To support the timely and successful implementation of the NAP, the JNCW seeks to hire a Media & Communication Specialist to coordinate all communication efforts related to UNSCR 1325.

 

Job Title: Communication and Media Officer 1325

Job Objective: To contribute to enhancing internal and external communication for the Jordanian National Commission for Women by developing and implementing communication and media strategies and plans, ensuring effective media coverage of the commission's activities and programs.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

Develop Communication and Media Strategies:

    • Prepare and implement communication and media plans in line with the unit’s objectives, and JNCW strategic objectives.
    • Identify target audiences and develop plans to communicate with them effectively.

Manage Media Relations:

    • Build strong relationships with local and international media.
    • Prepare and distribute press releases and respond to media inquiries.
    • Organize press conferences and coordinate with media for coverage of the commission's activities.

Prepare Media Materials:

    • Write and edit articles, newsletters, publications, and reports.
    • Produce multimedia materials such as videos, photos, and infographics

Manage Social Media Accounts:

    • Manage and update the commission's social media accounts.
    • Develop creative and engaging content and increase interaction with the audience on these platforms.

Internal Coordination:

    • Coordinate with other departments and sections to ensure effective information flow.
    • Organize internal events and enhance communication among employees.

Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare periodic reports on communication and media activities and provide recommendations for performance improvement.
    • Analyze media coverage and provide detailed reports on the results.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, media, journalism, or any related field.

Experience:

  • Basic: At least 3-5 years of experience in communication and media.
  • Desirable: Experience in dealing with media and managing media campaigns.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write and edit media content effectively.
  • Good knowledge of managing social media accounts and performance analysis.
  • High organizational and administrative skills.
