Organisation Background:

Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSOprovides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training. INSO is registered in the Netherlands with its headquarters based in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice.

We work in 16 of the world’s most volatile countries to ensure that humanitarians are able to operate safely and deliver their services. We provide over 1,000 NGOs with information, analysis, advice and support, 40% of which are national humanitarian organisations.

INSO Palestine:

INSO Palestine was launched in March 2024. The programme supports more than 330 NGOs in both Gaza and the West Bank through the publication of safety situation reports and analysis reports, and by hosting weekly security roundtables.INSO Palestine is now seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Deputy Safety Advisor. The DSA serves as an analyst and subject matter expert on regional dynamics, trends, and developments in the West Bank and Gaza.

The post will be based in Amman, Jordan, but with travel to the West Bank as needed. This position is only open to Jordanian nationals or individuals with the right to work in Jordan.

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Safety Advisor, the Deputy Safety Advisor is involved in information collection, verification and data input into CHDC. They assist the SA in the development and management of a local information network, and provide liaison with NGO using INSO services in the region.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide NGOs with credible information and contextual analysis of oPT and Gaza.
  • Provide support in establishing and maintaining an active information network, which includes NGOs and other actors, to obtain credible and relevant safety information.
  • Assist in humanitarian coordination meetings and provide access and security enabling information.
  • Assist in providing NGOs with timely and credible security information and contextual analysis of the local security situation through: daily incident alerts, reports, weekly incident lists and analytical reports.
  • Provide support in facilitating and leading NGO community security roundtables, during which security incidents are discussed and analysed.
  • Effectively represent, promote and protect INSO's mandate of independence, impartiality and neutrality.
  • Support the SA in the management of field monitors
  • Adhere to INSO safety policies and procedures.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Jordanian nationality or right to work in Jordan. Right to enter the West Bank.
  • Good and relevant network in the oPT and Gaza.
  • Deep understanding of oPT and Gaza safety environment and its historical context.
  • Prior data entry experience.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent English writing skills with ability to research and present complex issues in a clear and concise manner as well as a fluent conversational level of at least one of the following languages: Arabic or Hebrew.
  • Good understanding of NGO approaches to safety is essential (knowledge of humanitarian principles is essential).
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain human networks.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Office programs.
  • University level education or equivalent experience.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • 6 months work experience with NGOs
  • Experience in high quality report production
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of engagement
  • Staff management experience
  • Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Political Sciences, History, or any other equivalent diploma preferred.

Terms & Conditions:

12-month renewable contract. USD 2,900 per month salary, 1.75 calendar days annual leave per month, private health insurance coverage and AD&D insurance.
