Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a leading humanitarian and development agency working to combat the causes of hunger and malnutrition in over 46 countries worldwide, in the fields of nutrition, food security and livelihoods, water sanitation and hygiene, and mental health and care practices. Eleven years into the Syrian conflict, more than 1.3 million Syrians have sought refuge in Jordan; 676,164 are registered refugees and approximately 80% live in non-camp settings. This influx of refugees has strained Jordan's economy and resources, with Syrians often accepting worse working conditions and lower compensation than Jordanians and taking on low-skill, informal jobs in sectors such as in manufacturing, construction and agriculture. In 2022, Jordan had a 23% unemployment rate. For Syrian refugees, unemployment rates are significantly worse with 80% of Syrian refugees unemployed in 2021, up from 50% and 65% in 2019 and 2020.
An internship at Action Against Hunger is a short-term, learning experience opportunity aimed at developing the professional experience of aspiring humanitarian workers. In addition to developing a strong talent pool, the internship offers an opportunity to promote the work of Action Against Hunger and its humanitarian mandate.
ACF is looking for its program in Jordan for Program Quality Intern.
Workplace: Jordan - Amman
Core Functions & Responsibilities:
An internship aims at developing the professional experience of aspiring humanitarian and development workers. As a member of the Programs Department, the intern is expected to gain knowledge and experience working on activities related to program quality, MEAL, and project cycle management, supporting the Program Quality Coordinator on the following tasks:
- Support in the conduct and documentation of ACF planned technical assessments.
- Assist in the documentation of the project learning workshops and debrief sessions.
- Other duties related to program quality and information management, as required.
Specific Responsibilities:
1) Assist in the completion of ACF planned assessments
- To generate a well-designed fact sheet that is summarizing the F4C evaluation and GAC rapid needs assessment findings
- To support the transcriptions for the planned WASH& Integrated technical assessment ( FGDs and KIIs)
- To support the enumerators in minimum quality data collection for the different planned assessments
2) Support the finalization and rollout of the learning strategy
- To support the preparations for the planned quality management internal and external, workshops and sessions.
- To translate the learning strategy and finalize the design for the English version
- To act as note taker in ACF planned workshops.
- Support the creation of ACF e-library.

Learning opportunities for the intern
- General understanding of the humanitarian sector experience and the role of different humanitarian actors including international and national NGOs and local actor in the humanitarian context
- General understanding of Action Against Hunger mission in Jordan.
- General understanding of the coordination mechanisms between humanitarian actors in the sector.
- Insight and hands-on experience within Program Quality Department
- Working experience in a multicultural environment.
The intern is also expected to strengthen his/her knowledge and understanding of Action Against Hunger implementation guidelines by reading project documents and related SoPs. The intern will respect ACF internal rules and regulations, by-laws, and policies, and will adhere to the Code of Conduct
Skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree or currently studying in information management, social sciences, sociology, humanitarian and / or development studies or other relevant field.
Type of professional experience requested:
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural working environment.
- Experience in working with I/NGOs on community based programs is preferable
- Experience in writing reports or briefings is preferable
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative research is a plus
Language level:
Fluency in Arabic and excellent English
