GENERAL FUNCTION
The Communications and Reporting Officer for the “Strengthening Civil Society and Media Systems (Sawt) Activity”, under the supervision of the Communications Manager, will work as part of the Communications Team, and will be responsible for producing and editing written reports and communication materials related to the Sawt activity. They must ensure that content is accurate, informative, and impactful, while adapting it for different audiences, using a variety of communication channels and platforms. Additionally, they will manage and update content for the Sawt website, and provide writing and editing support to the technical teams under the Sawt project, including but not limited to the Media and Advocacy Teams, as well as the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a thought partner for the Sawt team to support in writing/editing/proofreading weekly and quarterly reports, annual plans, newsletters, presentations, social media posts, success stories, press releases, factsheets, and training materials – while also ensuring adherence to Sawt project branding requirements, in accordance with USAID's branding and marking guidelines and message manual.
- Provide line editing, copyediting, and proofreading support for technical team’s reports, communication materials, posts, and event invites.
- Draft speeches and talking points for Sawt senior management as well as write press releases, one-pagers, factsheets and social media content for public dissemination.
- In collaboration with other members of the Communications Team (and with supervision from the Communications Manager), support in maintaining, monitoring, and updating Sawt’s online presence – including its webpage and social media accounts.
- Keep up-to-date with trends and tools for online / digital communications, content creation, and social media management, and apply techniques in developing content for Sawt’s website and online accounts.
- Support the Communications Team in its development of multimedia content by contributing writing, editing, and/or other technical assistance for the production of photos, videos, audio recordings, web-conferencing recordings, etc.
- Participate in regular site visits to Sawt partners and grantees, supported media outlets, and target audiences, to conduct interviews, collect testimonials, and develop success stories on behalf of the Sawt project.
- Meet regularly with other members of the Communications Team, to discuss project needs in relation to reporting, writing, editing, content development, message creation, and deliverables tracking.
- Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor, to ensure program visibility and effective communications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or other related field.
Required Experience
- At least 4 years of content development experience, including writing, editing, and publications expertise across a variety of formats / platforms.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to translate technical concepts from Arabic to English (and vice versa) for multiple audiences, using brief, clear, and accessible language.
- A strong understanding of editing workflows and file structuring.
- Experience in managing and/or contributing to online accounts (including websites and/or social media platforms).
Preferred Experience
- Technical multimedia production skills (in the area of photography, videography, video editing, podcast production, audio editing, and/or graphic design) would be considered a distinct advantage.
- Experience working with NGOs and/or donor-funded projects in the same capacity.
- Familiarity with basic monitoring and evaluation procedures, program assessment, data collection tools, and/or other MERL components would also be a plus.
Skills
- Able to think creatively and demonstrate a commitment to mastering social media and other communication tools.
- Demonstrate a keen attention to detail, as well as a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, with the ability to multitask and meet tight production deadlines.
- Excellent inter-personal skills to ensure effective and collegial relations with the media as well as Sawt partners, beneficiaries, and team members.
Ability and permission to work and reside in Jordan without Internews sponsorship.
