About Relief International
Relief International (RI) partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change, and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience, and promote long-term health and well-being.
Currently, RI is active in 15 countries around the world, including some of the most fragile: Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen.

About our Country Program
Relief International has been implementing programming in Jordan since 2004, in the wake of the Iraqi refugee crisis and are currently actively engaged in the response to the Syria refugee crisis in Jordan, including provision of services to both refugees and the host community. Currently, Relief International’s portfolio in Jordan focuses on the education and livelihoods sectors the host community and the camps. Relief International also values coordination with other agencies and the government of Jordan and takes leadership roles within the response as relevant. Due to funding challenges, Relief International scaled down in Jordan starting in late 2023 but has now restarted operations with new funding.
About our Middle East Regional Programs
RI operates in seven countries in the Middle East region: Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, occupied Palestinian Territory (oPT), Syria, Turkey, and Yemen, with a focus on the four RI sector pillars: Health, WASH, Education, and Economic Opportunity. We employ more than 4,000 staff (direct and indirect) in the Middle East region and implement a range of humanitarian and development programs valued at approximately USD 70 million on an annual basis.
- Job Profile
Under the supervision of the MEAL Officer, the MEAL Assistant will provide full support to the MEAL officer mainly in monitoring visits and carrying out routine M&E tasks & reporting, ensuring proper documentation within the MEAL department.
- Key responsibilities
Accountability and Complexity
- Works with a moderate degree of supervision and guidance
- Recognizes and solves technical problems without supervision more complex technical problems referred to manager
- Evaluates and selects standard solutions
- Follows standardized procedures and practices and receives regular but moderate supervision and guidance
Data Collection:
- Performing and supervising the field data collection done by RI or partners including satisfaction surveys, exit interviews, PDMs, and Evaluations, throughout quantitative and qualitative methodologies (surveys, KIIs, FGDs, Observations, etc)
- Supporting the MEAL Officer in developing and testing MEAL tools.
- Contributing to the development and/or implementation of data collection plans.
Data Management
- Support the MEAL team with ensuring the completeness and readiness of project data from all project sites.
- Follow up with field teams on missing or incomplete data.
- Supporting IMO with data validation and interpretation and play as focal point between RI and field data collectors.
- Update trackers, and Indicator Progress Tracking per the new needs and variables of comparisons from the data when needed
Field Activities
- Conducting regular field visits to the project sites with coordination and support of MEAL officer and program team.
- Ensure full documentation for, and archiving of, project means of verifications such as donation lists, photos, interview forms etc.
- Supporting MEAL and program teams in field verification activities for participants and centers.
- Conduct site interviews, FGDs and surveys with teachers, students and parents as needed to ensure a robust feedback and communication channels between RI and community.
- Supporting program team with distribution and monitoring activities.
- Sharing field reports with MEAL supervisor.
Undertaking Other MEAL activities
- Participate with MEAL team in setting MEAL plans, logframes and theory of change.
- As needed, participate with RI internal and external meetings within MEAL department and at the inter-departmental level.
- Provide technical support for field workers and program team related to MEAL topics.
- Supporting the accountability and safeguarding focal point with CFRM related tasks.
- Implementing other tasks requested by MEAL Officer or Coordinator as needed.

Essential criteria
- University degree in a relevant field.
- Good contextual knowledge of local issues, community priorities, social and cultural constraints and realities
- Good command of English language (Speaking and writing skills);
- Ability to use MS. Office, MS. Excel in particular;
- At least one year of experience working in monitoring and evaluation.
- Knowledge of Data collection methods.
- Experience in carrying out surveys, analyzing data, and report writing.
