LWF Jordan is one of the 25 country programs managed by LWF World Service. This initiative has been operational in Jordan since 2013, serving the community for over a decade. Our primary objective is to assist marginalized communities by strengthening their resilience, social cohesion, and fostering sustainable livelihoods. We provide protection and humanitarian services across various sectors, including Individual Counseling, Group Therapy, Community-Based Activities, Awareness Raising, Child and Youth Programs, and Capacity Building. LWF Jordan is committed to supporting individuals facing the most challenging circumstances. Scope of Work
The accountant is responsible for providing financial accountancy and administration Support to the day-to-day management of the finance functions in the LWF Jordan program.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Finance
- Review Payment vouchers to ensure correct account codes, project validity, and budget compliance.
- Verify that all Payment vouchers are properly approved, with organized and stamped supporting documents.
- Verify all partners' financial reports and supporting documents, and prepare corresponding journal vouchers (JV).
- Track all partner payments and reconcile partner advances.
- Reconcile balance sheet (BS) items on a monthly basis.
- Enter daily transactions in cash and bank books, ensuring all expense vouchers and supporting documents are attached.
- Handle the cash box, disbursing cash vouchers in accordance with financial policies and manuals.
- Maintain the Finance Department's filing system both physically and electronically.
- Prepare cash and bank reconciliations and close monthly accounts.
- Review the monthly payroll from HR for accuracy in calculations, including income taxes, social security, medical insurance, and allowances.
- Prepare cash requests from the Amman Office and Syria Office and monitor cash disbursements from the safe.
- File payment vouchers in the arch file with complete supporting documentation.
- Ensure payment vouchers are numbered and stamped.
- Ensure scanned copies of all supporting documents are filed properly.
- Reconcile all staff cash advances, and Field offices petty cash ensuring they are approved and charged to the correct budget lines.
- Verify the backup for payment vouchers (translations, dates, stamps, etc.).
- Assist the Finance Manager in preparing monthly and other financial reports for HQ and donors, and updating report templates.
- Assist in reviewing sub-grant monthly reports and ensure all backups are adequate.
- Conduct regular field visits to LWF activities in and outside Amman as instructed by the Finance Manager.

- Carry out any other duties as requested by the LWF Jordan & Syria Finance Manager & within the scope of work.
Professional Standards
The LWF and LWF workers must adhere to the values and principles outlined in the Code of Conduct as well as the Core Humanitarian Standard and relevant LWF policies such as Protection from Sexual Abuse, Exploitation and Harassment (PSEAH), Child Protection and Gender Justice Policy. The staff member must conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to the LWF and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
Requirements:
Essential
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least one year working in the humanitarian or INGO sector.
- Experience working with accounting systems (e.g., SAGE, QuickBooks) is highly preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Arabic.
- Proven proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant financial software.
