REACH Assessment Officer (Localized Market Based Assessment)

ABOUT THE LMBA :

During this research cycle, REACH will coordinate closely with the Yemen Cash and Market Working Group and other Cash actors. Specifically, REACH will facilitate a comprehensive understanding of evolving market dynamics through localized market-based assessments (LMBAs). LMBAs will contribute to improving the understanding of specific market dynamics. In particular, LMBAs may include an analysis of market linkages with specific locations, pricing structures, supply chains, and factors influencing market accessibility. Additionally, LMBAs may inform an increased understanding of the relationship between livelihoods and market-based programming. Research methodologies will depend on partner capacities and may be conducted at (sub)-district level, in large urban cities or clusters of rural communities through KI panels, FGDs and/or mapping exercises. LMBA outputs will include:

- LMBA Tool(s) ·

-Clean datasets ·

-Outputs summarizing findings (area profiles, report, presentation of findings).


(TENTATIVE) OBJECTIVES:

1. The LMBA Research Cycle is implemented according to REACH Quality Standards

2. Internal and external reporting on the LMBA progress is up to date.

3. All REACH basic inductions and foundational trainings are completed.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assessment Officer (AO) is responsible for:

- Overseeing the implementation of the LMBA Research Cycle (Research Design, Data Collection, Data Analysis, Output drafting, Lessons learned).

- Coordinating the interactions with the relevant technical REACH teams (HQ Research Team, Amman data team, Amman Geographic Information System (GIS) team) to ensure the necessary technical support and input is provided to the research cycle.

-Leading and contributing to partner interactions (including data collection partners, organizations responsible for humanitarian coordination in Yemen, and target audiences of the research cycle, to whom the conclusions and outputs of the research will be presented) .

- Reporting orally and in written internally and externally (donors) on the progress of the LMBA research cycle.


Skills

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Technical skills in any of the following:

• Strong Excel skills;

• Previous experience with mobile data collection (ODK, ONA, KoBo).

• Good understanding of research methods (including sampling frameworks).

• Experience with cleaning and analyzing datasets required.

• Knowledge of the Adobe Suite, particularly InDesign an asset.

• Good understanding of research methods (including sampling frameworks);

• Experience on dashboards (Power BI, Shiny) an asset.

-Experience working in/on humanitarian or development contexts.

-Experience with external engagement and/or partner coordination.

-Strong analytical skills, including ability to identify and key trends and situate findings in wider context.

-Ability to operate independently in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility.

-Fluency in English and Arabic, excellent communication and writing skills.
